Patrice, at Everyday Ruralty, hosts Wednesday Words of Weight Loss every Wednesday! It's a fun HOP that offers encouragement and company on the issue of weight. It's never too late to join! Come on, this is your week to join in the FUN!
Questions
1. Do you feel better in skirts or pants? Pants, pants, pants! No doubt. Without question. Pants.
2. Do you remember a time when you felt like "a million dollars" or anything over 50 cents? Yes. I remember feeling that way on several occasions when I had lost weight and gotten into clothes that I really liked and felt good in. Only, on those weight loss episodes, I only had 10 or 20 pounds to lose and it came off pretty easily. Now, it's 20 x 5 pounds and some of it is re-losing the pounds I put BACK on after losing my last 83 which really sucks that I let myself do this.
3. Walking or running? I walk 2-3 miles every day but it's a face paced walk. I did run in college but I hated it then so I don't see me loving it now.
4. Have you ever had any "ah-ha" moment about health or eating habits? Now in English- have you ever felt like you made a discovery about health or eating habits. I haven't made any discoveries on my own but I have discovered that some of the things others have discovered are true. Does that sentence make sense? For example, I have discovered that if I cut the sugar and bad carbs, my body really does burn fat AND I stop craving the carbs! I have discovered that what I heard this man say (I totally forgot who it was but he was either on a morning news show or The Doctors or something like that) something about we are letting our thinking control what/how/why we eat holds some truth with me as I have discovered that I am very good at deceiving myself--the entire time I was putting the weight back on I kept telling myself that I wasn't even though there were signs that I was. AND I have discovered that I live amongst enablers. I have discovered that chewing your food SLOWLY really does make a difference in how much I eat. I have discovered that stopping the late night snacking and going to bed by ten o'clock makes a positive difference. I have discovered that nothing will work unless I am ready to get serious about losing the weight.
5. If someone could do something really nice for you, that would make you happy, what would it be? Bring Deanie home for her 24th birthday next week. (I do NOT like this living NINE hours away business).
Deanie at 3
Deanie and boytoy--aren't they just the cutest?!
This is the 23rd day of NaBloPoMo (National Blog Posting Month) for the month of March. The theme for this month is: in a word! My chosen word for today is: SUPPORT because that's what you get from this particular HOP every Wednesday!
I've learned that protein and fat help take weight off (avoiding starchy carbs and fruit carbs) cuz fat isn't the culprit many think it is. And it does satisfy.
I have a friend who's losing weight like crazy, following Suzanne Somers' cookbooks. I've not read them, but it's working for her.
I totally agree with all your "ah-ha" answers to #4...I "discovered" that cutting out bad carbs and sweets are the only way I can loose weight, too!!! I'm your latest follower! (love your "cartoons", too! ;-)
If I could wiggle my nose like BeWitched, I'd bring her home for you. I can't imagine. I've learned to listen to my body, not my mind. At least most of the time. I've learned I can work out faster then my heart and that is what makes me dizzy so I need to change up my routine a bit. I've learned I hate my jeans that don't fit. When I was fatter I didn't have to pull them up all the time, now I do. No complaining but still annoying at times. I learned that I so love you and your blog and all the comments and love and help you've given me in my weight loss journey. Take care my friend, God Bless!!
Julie-I don't even own a pair of jeans. But I will one day! I used to live in them daily! You are so sweet! I feel the same about you! You have encouraged me through your journey and I am now back on track- I just keep thinking, look how far Julie has come- you can do it too! Maybe one day we will bridge the miles between us and visit for a spell!
I think it's great you're back on track, if you did it once, you can do it again. If you want to, you can check my blog, I have a new page titled 'Exercise Stories' and I deal with both exercise and nutrition.

Sugar and simple carbs can make you gain weight, however, a diet of mainly protein cannot be sustained long term or it could cause heart and kidney problems. We all have different metabolism and physical challenges, but our nutritional requirements are not that different. I'm looking forward to following your progress on your blog. :)
Being a transplant to the low-country of SC for 31 years is still not long enough to be called a ‘benyeh.’ If I stay until I’m dead I’ll probably go a ‘comeyeh’ since I am, originally, ‘from off’ (which is the upstate but, rules you know). By day I take care of my sweet little granddaughter, Baby M and do all those things I did when I was a SAHM raising four daughters which has translated to, ‘by day, I am exhausted.’ By night I blog, blog, blog, and blog some more or I sleep, depending on my level of exhaustion (do they still make Geritol?). I have a very unhealthy addiction to sweets (nearly any kind will do) and all comfort foods not covered under the ‘sweets’ category. I’m known for speaking my mind so, if you don’t want to know, don’t ask me. I love to find the humor in my empty nest life. I live life hard and smack into that brick wall almost daily because I’ve always had to learn the hard way. Why change now? I’m so glad you’ve come to laugh with me as I do this middle age, empty nest thing like a BOSS!
Yes, Deanie and 'boytoy' are just adorable!!

Loved reading your post. It's hard to believe how fast our little darlings grow up, huh? My oldest will celebrate her 23rd bday in June. Sobs!

Just stopping by to catch up! What a precious pic of your daughter at age 3. I wouldn't like the 9 hour thing either :(

ReplyDeleteCathy- They certainly do grow up fast! In a blink of eye, right?!
Kathy- Thank you! Yep, that nine hours away is NOT COOL!
