Word Bird Wednesday
This is my first time joining Word Bird Wednesday and, to be honest, I was a bit intimidated what with being on the very beginning rung of the beginning photographer ladder. But then a friend told me that the only way to improve is to get out there, keep trying and have some fun! This, coupled with the fact that I do love birds and love to photograph them, I decided to go for it!
It's very easy to link up. Just click on the WBW button, post your pictures and visit the other blogs. That's all there is to it!
We live 5 minutes from the beach so we have tons of coastal birds around here. I quickly became fascinated with them. These are some of the first photos I began taking of coastal birds---only 6-8 months ago. These are Green Herons.

This is wonderful! We have Green Herons up here, and I know how difficult they can be to photograph.
ReplyDeleteB.
Great pictures!
ReplyDeleteYou got some great photos of the green heron. I love them and they are so shy that they are hard to photograph....
ReplyDeleteHow in the world do you get that close to Green Herons? These are excellent captures. Green Herons live near me during the summer but they seem to be extremely cautious, way more so than the Blues who enjoy their privacy too. If I creek the door they're gone. ;-)WBW
ReplyDeleteYou are among your people!
You silly bird, you! I can't believe you consider yourself on the "very beginning rung of the beginning photographer ladder." Your photos are always so lovely, clear and well-composed ... at least in the eyes of this photographer wannabe who's not yet even reached the bottom rung. I love your photos!
ReplyDeleteExcellent shots. What a beautiful bird. We have the Green Heron here April through September but I haven't gotten a good shot of one. Good job to you. MB
ReplyDeleteBeautiful bird shots! We've seen green herons on our travels but never close enough to photograph that well! Thanks for sharing -- and for being patient enough to catch him. (You live in a great place!
ReplyDeleteGreat series of the Green Heron! Nothing to be intimidated for!
ReplyDeleteI have never seen green herons before. Fabulous shots.
ReplyDeleteI love birds, and these are wonderful photos! Thanks for sharing them with us. :-)
ReplyDeleteThank you all for the encouraging comments!
ReplyDeleteI had never even considered taking pictures of birds until they seemed to present themselves to me. Even my dog has gotten used to being patient--when he hears me say, "Shh...there's he is." Tucker immediately looks and sits down while I take the pictures.
I have really enjoyed all the photos shown on WBW! Y'all have motivated me to get out there more and see what I can see!
Well I don't know much about photography or birds but your pictres are amazing!

So that is what green heron looks like. That´s one bird I hope to see soon.
ReplyDeleteNever seen one over here; what a beauty.
ReplyDeleteGreat shots, I've never seen Green Herons before.
ReplyDeleteHello to another Carolina girl--Wonderful shots of the Green Heron!! Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteHi to another Southern lady! Love the Green Heron. I have to visit the coast more.:)
ReplyDeleteGreat shots of this so well camouflaged bird. It looks really hard to spot unless it moves.
ReplyDeleteThese are great shots, I especially like the one at the bottom. We have a very similar heron around, although I don't know if it's the same species.
ReplyDeleteWhat a neat meme. Love your pictures.
