Questions:
1. Did you get any Valentine's Gifts? Yep. I am not a Valentine's Day enthusiast. I don't like getting flowers because I hate that people grow them just to kill them. I love chocolate but am trying not to eat it. I don't agree with giving the greeting card companies money for occasions such as this. Yes, I'm a smidgey bit cynical but it really boils down to the fact that I just have my own opinions about things. Hubs knows this and does not have a problem with it. He usually brings home a LIVING flowering plant (this year it's tulips) to either be planted outside or to stay inside (but NOT cut flowers) with a poem that he has written. Sometimes he will write a song and play it for me on his Dobro. I like these gifts much better anyway. And I will have him his favorite supper, bottle of wine and candle light.
2. What is your favorite topping on something toasted? Butter and honey!
3. Do you pick out your outfit the night before? Absolutely. I am NOT a morning person and do not want to be bothered with such things when I get up.
4. What food item do you absolutely despise? Without question- LIVER.
5. Righty or lefty? Lefty and proud of it! LOL None of our daughters ended up being left-handed and Hubs isn't either. Oh well everyone can't be perfect....LOL!
And now here's the gift I'm passing on via The Blogger Formerly Known As The enigmatic, masked blogger as a THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH to everyone who reads my blog- so, if you are here, take this gift and pass it on to your lovely readers if you'd like (no flowers were murdered for this gift; no calories are involved; and the greeting card companies won't make any money from it...LOL):
The next thing I want y'all to pick up is the Stylish Blogger Award given to me by a blogger who has a piece of fiction going on at her blog that intrigued me from the beginning! You can check it out at: The Blogger Formerly Known As The enigmatic, masked blogger
Since I have already answered Java's questions, I won't try to come up with the seven things about me- but I do want anyone who passes by today who hasn't received this award before to take it!
The rules for accepting are:
1. Thank and link back to the person who gave the award
2. State seven things about yourself
3. Pass the award on to 15 recently discovered great bloggers
I wish I had read this first before I wrote my blog this morning. I already told about my Valentines gift and what I will be doing for hubby tonight. But I will take the thank you flower and pass it on.
ReplyDeleteHave an awesome evening!
Tote-I'm on my way to your blog now. Thanks for passing it on!
ReplyDeleteBetty- We wouldn't celebrate it at all but Hubs insists and I can't let him do something and get nothing in return. LOL You're most welcome!
so glad to see someone totaly agrees with me on liver....I love the alive plants idea tulips are one of my favorite flowers..
ReplyDeletehappy valentines day!!!

I did get lotsa goodies for VD and was happy to do so.
ReplyDeleteIf it's bread that's toasted I love plum preserves or cinnamon sugar on it.
What food do I despise? Licorice or anise in any form. I call it anus.
Do I pick out my clothes the night before? Only for special occasions.
I'm a rightie.
Thanks so much for stopping by for a visit and joining in on the Monday fun. It is always nice to know little things about new friends.
ReplyDeleteWe are not much for celebrating big either, but I try to make a new recipe for dinner and dessert for the entire family. I want them to grow up with some romance, so they do it all year round for their spouses :) There are times through out the year that we eat by candlelight and music, that way the merchandisers don't get all the credit.
I feel the same way about live plants. I especially love to get Knock Out roses for the yard. They are beautiful for months--instead of dying in a couple of days.
ReplyDeleteYour Valentine's plans sound lovely. Enjoy your evening!
ReplyDeleteI agree, I love getting plants too!
ReplyDeleteHappy Valentine's Day.
Pam- I like tulips too but now have to research how to keep them alive!
ReplyDeleteMichele- plum preserves...I haven't had those OR fig preserves since my grandmother passed--they are good! That's a good name for anise by the way!
Chrissy- we did that from time to time while our girls were growing up- they loved it!
Beverly-I have several rose bushes out there that are over 10 years old! Knock Out roses? I'll have to check those out!
Chele- Thanks! You too!
Debby-Same to you!
Fun to read these things about you. :-) I LOVE flowers, but was so practical when my kids were growing up that most of them don't even realize it. Glad you got your tulips. Love tulips. I can raise them, due to rodents, but I always look forward to my daffodils!
ReplyDeleteI won't eat liver either, but my absolute worst thing is chitlins. They smell as foul as they must taste.
ReplyDeleteI don't pick out my own clothes at night, but I always did that for my kids or had them do it when they were older. ;)
I'm with you on the greeting cards. Why give big companies the money, right? I totally agree with you about the liver too. Its certainly not on my favourite list that's for sure!
ReplyDeletePam,
ReplyDeleteYour valentines dinner sounds wonderful and very romantic.
My Hubby loves the sound of the Dobro! Your Hubby must be very special to write a poem or a song for you. Awwww. I love it and give him a big Hug from me!
I like the idea of a flowering plant instead of flowers. My stepdaughter always sends flowers on Mothers Day, and they are beautiful but they die so quickly. Would rather take a walk through the Botanical Gardens then get a dozen roses!
Cranberry- I love daffodils!
ReplyDeleteblue-agreed on the chitlins! Ewwww...LOL
Jo-anne- It's not like they need any more money!
Shawn- Hubs built that dobro himself---from a log. It's beautiful and has a gorgeous sound!
After reading about everyone's most despised food, I'm pretty over food for the time being! Liver especially makes me queasy!
ReplyDeleteYeurghhhh! That's the sound of me thinking about liver.
ReplyDeleteYou're the best. Hope your husband sang you a lovely song for Valentine's day to go with the living flowers.
I have been enjoying reading your blog and getting to know you, this post was fun, I am also a lefty!
