I've got TWO fun HUMP DAY HOPS! If you're here for Wednesday Hodge Podge only, then scroll down.
The first is a new/revised meme from Patrice at
Everyday Ruralty called
Chats on the farmhouse porch!
1. What season was your wedding? If you aren't married, the what season is your birthday?
Winter for both wedding (not really a wedding just an exchange of vows...I hate wedding falderal) and birthday.
2. What names did you call your grandparents?(ie- grandma, granny, gran, grammie)
My mother's parents were Grandmother and Granddaddy. My dad's mother was GrandMooore but his dad had passed before I was born--I probably would have called him Granddaddy Moore.
3. What's your favorite smell that comes from your oven?
Any of the Christmas goodies that I bake every year. The house smells so yummy!
4. If you eat eggs- scrambled, fried, over easy, sunny side up, or other?
I am not eating eggs right now but only because I save calories by eating the Egg Beaters--and I usually eat the egg whites of those. Anyway, when I do eat eggs I like them just about any way at all-of course, the scrambled ones must have cheese and ketchup on them! But my favorite is poached. Always has been.
5. What's the tidiest room in your house? What's the messiest?
The tidiest (haha) room is the main room/living room--the room you come into when you first enter the house. The messiest, right now, is the family room because everything that Birdie didn't take to Texas and DoodleBug didn't take to her new house got dumped down there.
Now it's time for
WEDNESDAY HODGE PODGE from Joyce at From This Side of the Pond. This meme is a great way to get to know some wonderful new bloggy friends and learn more about some old ones...not that I'm calling anyone OLD, mind you.
1. Share a favorite song lyric.
I better not see 'I can't think of one' on anybody's paper. That's an automatic F in the Wednesday Hodgepodge you know.
No worries Joyce! The problem here is narrowing it down...I will only list 3, but I could go on and on and on and on with this one!
Ok, there's this one from Joni Mitchell's Carey: Come on down to the Mermaid Cafe and I will buy you a bottle of wine, And we'll laugh and toast to nothing and smash our empty glasses down...
And from Ripple by The Grateful Dead: If my words did glow with the gold of sunshine, And my tunes were played on the harp unstrung, Would you hear my voice come thru the music, Would you hold it near as it were your own?
Or how about Suite Judy Blue Eyes by CSN: Something inside is telling me that I've got your secret Are you still listening? Fear is the lock and laughter the key to your heart and I love you...
2. When was the last time someone yelled at you?
The only person who yells at me is Hubs- he doesn't do it very often but when he does it INFURIATES me. I realize that this only happens when he's frustrated (his family is forever frustrating him beyond belief) but I really don't care. I hate yelling. Yelling does NOT cause me to lend a sympathetic anything. Yelling makes a person lose all their credibility.
3. Money, fame, happiness...are they mutually exclusive?
I believe this all hinges on the individual involved. I believe a person can have one by itself or a combination of two or all three. They do not have to be mutually exclusive nor do they depend on one another.
4. What is your favorite dish to prepare for family and friends that doesn't require turning on the stove, oven or an outdoor grill?
A huge garden salad with all the fixings! I could eat a garden salad every day of the week.
5. The first week of August is National Simplify Your Life Week. What is one thing you could do this week to simplify your life? Will you do it?
I could organize. This is an ongoing task for me and, yes, I am working on it this week just like I work on it every other week. UGH.
6. On a scale of 1-10 (with 10 being 100% and 1 being not at all) how tuned in are you to your country's national political scene?
I'm probably around an 8 on this one.
7. What are your final parting words to the month of July?
Good riddance! It was TOO hot; TOO humid; TOO emotional (having Birdie move to Texas for TWO years). Of course, the ONE AND ONLY saving grace about July was DoodleBug's birthday!
8. Insert your own random thought here.
I'm glad I bought Tucker the little backpack so I can carry him when he gets too hot/tired to walk further. We've used it for the second day now and it has worked out fine in that I am able to walk for an hour or more instead of coming home after only 30 minutes. HOWEVER, when you put a little ten pound dog in that thing and add the brutality of the heat/humidity mix, IT'S NOT THAT EASY TO CARRY THAT EXTRA WEIGHT FOR A MILE OR MORE. This makes me wonder how I ever did anything but sit on my big fat butt before I lost the 34 lbs that I've lost so far. Geez, if when I get ALL the excess weight off I should be able to run a freaking marathon!
Wow-you're doing great. Maybe I need to carry my dog-she weights 60 pounds : ) Joni Mitchells Circle Game would make my list! Enjoy your day!
ReplyDeleteHi!
ReplyDeleteI'll agree, July sucked. But August isn't starting out good either. Have a great day!

Food for Thought
A winter wedding sounds nice. My daughter wants to get married in the winter, but her bou doesn't like the cold weather. They may compromise by getting married in the fall or spring. We just don't know when those wedding bells will be playing.
ReplyDeleteHow are you doing now? Are you making it now since life is more normal???
ReplyDeleteYou got married in the winter? That's neat.
I am so happy for the 34 pounds you have lost. That is awesome.
It's great weather for one of those garden fresh salads! And yes, I was glad to say goodbye to July (and it's heat), too. Unfortunately, August isn't feeling better here...
ReplyDeleteDon't you love how our kids think that we want their unwanted stuff???
Those are some great song lyrics! Love the Grateful Dead one. Mmmm...salads...the best part of summer.
ReplyDelete34 pounds? Yahoo! Love a good garden salad too--even better when someone else makes it. Here's to August!
ReplyDeleteJoyce- If Tucker weighed 60 lbs he could stay home. LOL Love Joni Mitchell!
ReplyDeleteSherrie- You’re right, August isn’t starting out any better at all! Guess we’ll just have to wait for October.
Cathy- Our oldest daughter had a fall wedding and it was gorgeous! Even to someone like me who is not a fan of weddings. LOL
FG- I’m getting there but still wish everyone would just move back home! 34 down and a whole lot more to go!
Kathy- I didn’t think it was possible for it to get any hotter, but August is proving me wrong so far. UGH.
Stacy-Salads are a great part of summer! I do enjoy the Dead tunes.
Betty- Yep, but so many more to go. It’s too hot to eat anyway! LOL
I could eat a giant salad everyday too. It would be nice if you could do that for me everyday!
ReplyDeleteWell done! You have really made huge progress and in infernal heat too. I admire your tenacity. You should get a copyright or something on Tucker, have models of him made and sell them as weight loss aids to people. Get them to caryy them for miles and voila!
ReplyDeleteDebby- Come on over! We can eat them together!
ReplyDeleteCarol- HEY!!! I've missed you twin! How's the book promo coming along? What's going on over there?
Now I'm hungry for a salad! 34 pounds- awesome! I'm glad you joined in on the chat. I like it much better than the other meme. I'm with you about kitchen smells with Christmas baked goods! Yum! BTW- you need to show us Tucker's new backpack when you get it. I bet he'll look cute!
ReplyDeleteI have never had a poached egg - ever! I have a fear of eating a undercooked egg - I only eat them scrambled hard or fried beyond recognition.
ReplyDeleteI wondered how much Tucker weighed - even a small dog gets heavy after awhile - especially in this heat.
34 pounds! Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking you must be an overachiever...I don't remember Joyce saying anything about extra credit if you post more than one lyric! ;)
Patrice- At least the weather is right for them! I will get a picture of Tuck in his carrier soon!
ReplyDeleteDonna- I've never had an undercooked poached egg. Are they supposed to be undercooked? Just goes to show how much I know. LOL
Mary- Yep but so much more to lose. I just couldn't narrow it down to one- and I did spare y'all the hundreds of others....but yes, I am an overachiever!
I was so done with July too. It was a very frustrating, stressful month. I couldn't wait for August to start, and for things to change. Sadly, August is starting off just how July ended... no improvement. September, here is looking at you....
ReplyDeleteHilary- September won't be that much better here. I'm looking towards OCTOBER! It's just too dang hot.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry you're also suffering with the heat and finicky ACs, but I'm glad I'm not alone. I wanna curl up on my bed with the AC down to 62 and sleep until I see snow. If only I didn't have to work for a living...
ReplyDeleteIf you'd like to wheel me around in a backpack with wheels I'll come and keep you and Tucker company on your constitutionals.
ReplyDeleteIt's just waay to hot for me to walk outside now, save from the house to the car anyway.
BRING ON WINTER!!!
Love this! Your answers cracked me up.
ReplyDeleteHave I missed a photo of Tucker in his new doggie-bag? I'd love to see him in it ...I bet it's adorable with him being carried that way. Of course, I love Tucker anyway. Y'all know that by now. As for weddings...we did the same, my thoughts on it is...why spend 1000s on a wedding when you're married, no matter? Save the money for the future life ahead.
ReplyDeleteHappy Friday to you.
RAIN SCENTS
Please get someone to snap a photo of Tucker in his little backpack. I promise that I'll snap a picture if I ever get Wendell a backpack! You can put it in my obituary after lugging him around!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI completely relate to the yelling husband. Same gig, he doesn't yell very often, we're usually sulkers at my house.
