FINALLY, it's time for my TWO favoritey fun HUMP DAY HOPS! If you're here for Wednesday Hodge Podge only, then scroll down.
- What's your favorite kind of soup? I love me some soup! My grandmother's homemade vegetable beef was my favorite growing up. Now, I just love soup. My homemade chicken noodle is yummy! My mother's broccoli soup is wonderful! Hmmm....I think my favorite now is that Tomato Zucchini Bisque I got from Debbi!
- Do you prefer a movie or a play? Movie. Hands down. Without a moments hesitation. I can't sit still through a play. It was hard even when Birdie was in them in high school. And the kids were great- I just don't have an appreciation for plays.
- What was your most unusual birthday celebration? (It can be the most unusual celebration you attended, if you wish.) I don't recall hosting or attending any unusual birthday celebrations.
- What position were you in your family- oldest, middle, youngest, only? I was the only for 12 years and then we adopted three brothers- and I became the oldest.
- Please finish this: Star shine. Star bright. First star I see tonight. I wish I may, I wish I might have this wish I wish tonight...I wish I had an endless supply of money!
1. What is something that bothers you if it's not done perfectly? EVERYTHING. And, by perfectly, I mean not done the way I want it done. I'm too picky.
2. Do you think a 6th sense exists? Explain. YES! But I call it woman's intuition. And you can read all about my experiences with it here.
3. Do you say your goodbyes slowly, quickly, or not at all? It all depends. Every time I have to say goodbye to one of the lovelies, I hang on and don't want to let go. EVER. When my dad visits I take a bit of a long time too because I don't like it when they go back home. But, just a friend over for a visit- just a quick goodbye. I don't like goodbyes though. They are very hard for me.
4. On a scale of 1-10, with ten being hot hot hot, what level of spice do you like in your food? What's your favorite 'spicy' dish? I'm about a 4 here. I'm not a fan of eating something that is so hot it numbs my mouth or makes my tongue feel as though I've laid a hot poker on it. That kind of ruins the whole taste issue. Hubs, Birdie and BestSonInLawEVER add all kinds of hot sauces and peppers to every dish that's put before them. I do like chili that's a little spicy. I usually make two pots- one for the spicy threesome mentioned above and one for the sane members of the family.
5. What is one of your all time favorite commercial jingles? I used to love the Alka Seltzer one- Plop, plop, fizz, fizz, oh what a relief it is.And the Dr. Pepper ones. And the BandAid ones. But I really love this Oscar Mayer bologna one--
6. Plane, train, boat or auto...your preferred method of travel? Actually, I prefer NOT to travel. But, if I have to go, I go by car. Planes--I am way too claustrophobic to fly (and maybe a little scared of crashing). Trains- I've been scared of them since I was little (you can read about the great train incident here). Boats- I don't mind but I never go anywhere that a boat can take me.
7. What is something you take for granted? That my parents will always be here. I got that little scare last week! Thankfully, everything turned out great and all is calm. For now. Mother is going to a cardiologist but is fine. Dad's surgery went well and the surgeon says he got all of the cancer out.
8. Insert your own random thought here. So glad that hurricane Irene is going to miss us. Hurricane Hugo was quite enough hurricane for me to last a lifetime!
Ha-I guess perfect is a relative term : )
ReplyDeleteI understand the ending you put on my little star poem. I know that if I had an endless supply of money, I'd fly down there and take you out to lunch! Tucker too!
ReplyDeleteI like some of the same soups you listed. I love to make soup. It's been too hot, but fall is on the way. Yay!
I'm glad to hear that Irene will miss you. I think we will get an awful lot of rain and wind.
Have a good rest of the week!
Joyce- I guess so! LOL
ReplyDeletePatrice-That would just make my day! And bring Wendell! And the girls! LOL I love soup year round but it really has been too hot this summer. Maybe Irene will go out to sea yet and miss us all!
Oh, thanks for the sweet memory with the Oscar Meyer commercial...he was so cute!!! Bet he's old and gray like me by now!! ha! ha!
ReplyDeleteDropping by from the Hodgepodge... Looks like Irene is headed my way, but it will be no big deal by the time it gets this far north!
ReplyDeleteI picked the same commercial :)
ReplyDeleteGlad your parents are doing better. I can't imagine not having mine in my life...
Hey, that's my favorite commercial too. I like soups too, but not as much as pasta....How's the weather lately? Still hot? DId you guys feel the earthquake?
ReplyDeleteGreat answers on all your questions. Thanks for stopping by my blog. Have a great day. :-)
ReplyDeleteDeb- I just love that one! Always have. Not sure he's all that old yet- I think he's younger than me!
ReplyDeleteBetty- Thanks! Me too! It's so easy to assume that they'll always be here because they always have been.
Rebecca-I am still hoping the darn thing goes out to sea! I don't want anyone to have to experience it!
Amiee-Great minds...LOL Thank you! I'm the same way-
Alessandra-We did not feel the earthquake but two of the lovelies did- Deanie lives in DC and works in VA so she felt it big time. Breezy is in NC and she felt it a little bit. Weather is still in low 90s and some upper 80s but that is so much better than 100+! The hurricane is going to miss us- thank God!
Cindy-Thanks! You too!
An endless suply of money would be a good thing to have...just thinking of all the great things it could do lifts the spirit.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you on the travel thing...it's just not necessary to leave home. I finally have my paradise. However, I do travel just a tiny bit. It's always good to get back home safely and to find my stuff right where I left it.
I as thinking about you and hoping Irene was going to miss you. I am so glad. Really you were a only until you were 12? That is amazing.
ReplyDeleteI liked reading your answers.
So glad you are going to be safe from this hurricane.
How are you doing? I was just wondering about you this week. My kids are home in the evenings but I tell you this quiet house is about to drive me nuts.
Take care,
Good questions- let's see-
ReplyDeleteHomemade chicken soup, and for an unusual BD-
I hired a dancer from LaBare to come and dance for my friend's 40th BD All the women thought it was fabulous, the hubs, not so much...
Stephanie- It would just be a God send! I do love staying home. But I need to visit the lovelies in NC, DC, and Texas! Guess I better learn to enjoy traveling!
ReplyDeleteFG-I'm so glad she's moving on.
I love love love that commercial. I almost put it as my answer. My favorite part if at the end when he's spelling bologna - he bob's his little head on the N - it's just precious!
ReplyDeleteI really wish Irene would have come our way. We need the rain so very desperately it would be worth a hurricane to get it.
Enjoyed reading your answers. The Oscar Mayer jingle is a good one. I would rather travel by car but sometimes I can't. Good answer #7 about our parents. My mom has been gone for 29 years, I wish my children could have known her.
