That's right- it's time for the April A-Z Challenge AND yet ANOTHER birthday!
So my A is for April Fool's Day- which is Deanie's birthday!
Today, Deanie turns 25 years old! That means she's a quarter of a century old! And we won't even discuss what that means about my age.
Deanie is our second born. The child who wants everyone to get along and be happy. The one who worries when one or more of us are not getting along or are unhappy. The singer. The dancer. The happy-go-lucky beauty who loves life and everyone in it.
When she was in kindergarten she cheered for a peewee football team. After their first cheer their first night at a game, the parents applauded, of course because that's why we were there- for the cheerleaders. Deanie looked at all of us, smiled and began bowing and blowing us kisses. Oh yeah, she’s something.
She is our lovely that used to get homesick everywhere she went. Seriously. All the way through high school and a little in college. I'm sure it was because we were such awesome parents. (hahahahahaha...sorry, cracked myself up there).
Deanie is quite smart (GT and all honors and AP...) and talented (dance major at School of the Arts, competition dance, color guard, chorus, Ladies Honors Chorus...). But what she thrives on is her social life. It's always been that way for her. There's nothing better than an event with a huge crowd as far as Deanie is concerned. Whenever she went anywhere we always joked that it was Deanie and 50 of her closest friends.
Deanie is our talker. She can talk you to DEATH. When she was in kindergarten her teacher (absolutely sweetest thing) chatted with me one day..."I don't know what to do. I put her in timeout for talking and she just yells across the room!" And she did this kind of thing all through school. But NEVER got into trouble for it because every single teacher she ever had just loved her.
When you need some help, Deanie is the first one to jump and say, "I'll do it!" And she does it sincerely. She will give anyone anything they want if she is in possession of it or can get it. You can rarely catch her without a smile on her face. She is kind and generous almost to a fault. And always without expectation of a return. Always.
Deanie is our fashionista. And this has been the case since the child was born! She loves all things stylish and pretty. She loves DIY ideas and is talented and capable to carry them out. She thinks her family is the greatest ever and her BFFs are her sisters and ME! She adores shopping and doesn't care so much about the cost if it's something she really wants. Which makes it a good thing she landed that really good job as an interior designer. She thinks it is just the greatest thing that her birthstone is diamond-especially canary diamonds as yellow is her favorite color. Yes, she loves shiny things too.
She's not afraid to put herself out there nor to try new things. Which is good and bad. Like Breezy's wedding. Deanie decided to dye her hair a dark brunette color. In all the family pictures we have our blonde daughters. Except Deanie. Whose hair was not it's natural blonde color. But all is forgiven because, to this very day, she calls her mother daily. Every. Single. Day. At least once. :)
Deanie's taste in music is so diverse it was difficult to decide on a song to go with her birthday slideshow. So I chose one that I think she will appreciate. It's perfect for the way our lovely Deanie views the world.
danne-She really is a wonderful person to be around. Just spreads sunshine everywhere! And she'd love to meet your daughter!
Suzanne- They are all lucky to have had you! You blessed each and every one of us and continue to do so. I'm happy AND sad about your move to CA. Happy for you, sad for us! Love you!
Great way to kick off the Challenge! Happy Birthday to Deanie! You know what they say about apples and trees...I'm thinking she's fallen pretty close :)
Happy birthday Deanie! Oh mum , you are special! What a loving tribute to your gorgeous daughter. I thought it was very moving . The song was just right and stunning photoes. What a truly beautiful young woman she has become. We are so blessed with our daughters my friend .
Diane-Thank you! She hasn't seen it yet but will call me when she does. I hope she likes it! You are so right- we are blessed with our daughters! Hugs!
Oh what a wonderful tribute to your daughter...she sounds like a fun loving individual. I laughed when you made the comment about how she could talk you to death. I say the same about my son! You are one proud mama!
She's gorgeous! She looks so happy and full of life. Wishing her all of the best. We just celebrated D3's birthday today. Her real birthday is actually tomorrow. Our lovelies are... well, uh... LOVELY! Someone else you know has a birthday this week. Regretfully, she isn't 25 anymore. She's a dusty, old lovely. I feel 125 after a week of painting, sorting, cleaning, etc!
First of all I find out you're dieting and writing about backsliding... then I find out you have a child born on April Fool's Day. Well GUESS WHAT. So do I! My oldest son, Angus, was born on April 1. I know, you're thinking I'm a weird stalker but it's true!
Your Deanie and my daughter2 sound like two peas in a pod : ) Happy Birthday to her a little bit late. I'm just now home from my trip and trying to catch up some and organize myself for the A-Z.
Being a transplant to the low-country of SC for 31 years is still not long enough to be called a ‘benyeh.’ If I stay until I’m dead I’ll probably go a ‘comeyeh’ since I am, originally, ‘from off’ (which is the upstate but, rules you know). By day I take care of my sweet little granddaughter, Baby M and do all those things I did when I was a SAHM raising four daughters which has translated to, ‘by day, I am exhausted.’ By night I blog, blog, blog, and blog some more or I sleep, depending on my level of exhaustion (do they still make Geritol?). I have a very unhealthy addiction to sweets (nearly any kind will do) and all comfort foods not covered under the ‘sweets’ category. I’m known for speaking my mind so, if you don’t want to know, don’t ask me. I love to find the humor in my empty nest life. I live life hard and smack into that brick wall almost daily because I’ve always had to learn the hard way. Why change now? I’m so glad you’ve come to laugh with me as I do this middle age, empty nest thing like a BOSS!
Happy Birthday Deanie. God job mom.
