It's Wednesday which means it's time to play around with Joyce and the Hodge Podge and take time to have a chat on the porch with Patrice!
1. What is a pet peeve you have when vacationing? We don't vacation so I guess I don't really have one. We live only 5 minutes from the beach so we 'vacationed' there every day during the summers when the lovelies were coming along.
2. Would you describe yourself as a light packer or do you need everything in your closet plus the kitchen sink? When the lovelies were growing up I packed EVERYTHING. Now, I just pack what I think I'll need and off I go. Though I only go to my dad's or to my mother's.
3. What's the best lesson a child ever taught you? Don't make assumptions OR go with the flow. And about a million others. The episode of The Andy Griffith Show below is a good example---just move it forward to about the 22nd minute and watch...

4. Share one piece of advice you'd give a recent graduate as they attempt to enter the job market? Put yourself out there and keep trying no matter what. When Deanie was looking for a job she found the ONE she wanted. And she wanted it bad. She didn't get it but that didn't stop her. She kept trying and found one much better! So, NEVER give up HOPE!
5. What's your favorite lemon something? That would be my mother's lemon meringue pie! It is TO-DIE-FOR!
6. Flat sandal, wedge, heel...your favorite footwear? This is the low-country so- FLIP-FLOPS or BARE FOOTED!
7. What do you like best about a beach holiday? If you're not a beach lover (GASP!!) what do you dislike the least? We practically LIVE at the beach so... Hey! Does that mean EVERY day is a holiday?
8. Insert your own random thought here. I started Jillian Michaels' 30 Day Shred back in...March, was it?...and then everyone came into town for a few days and I just never got back into it. I don't do the shred in front of anyone- you're welcome family. Anyway, I started back last week and today is day 8. Had to take Saturday off because I attempted level 2 on Friday and killed something in my left leg. OUCH. But by Sunday I was back! Wish me luck and send encouragement- I am NOT stopping until the full 30 days are up!

You still have time to enter to win a quart of Tropical Traditions Gold Label Coconut Oil! Just go to the post right HERE.
Patrice answered her questions with pictures and gave us the option of doing it as well.
Here are the questions:
2. What shoes are you likely to throw on in a pinch right now? "Go to" shoes.
This are my Wal-Mart cheapos that stay right by the front door. So I can slip my feet into them when I go to Wal-Mart. LOL |
3. What's the last gift you were given?
4. The first face you saw this morning was-------------------.
The first one I see every morning-because it's hard not to see the face that's licking yours- Tucker! |
5. What cup or mug are you most likely to grab for your tea or coffee? What's your "cuppa"cup?
I seem to like every one of your answers!!! The plates are so pretty...mine are "fruity", too!! Tucker is adorable....and love your mug!!! HOPE you have a great day!
ReplyDeleteHey stranger! Just stopping by to catch up with you.
ReplyDeleteI sigh just thinking about how close to the beach you are...while I sit among my pine trees and breathe in the pollen! LOL
My mom made a great lemon pie, too.
Good luck with "the shred"!
Must be nice to live that close to the beach...would be my dream come true! Great job advice! My husband was laid off for 11 months and recently found a job...he NEVER gave up!
ReplyDeleteIf we lived just 5 minutes from the beach, we'd never have to travel another day! For us every day would be a holiday! ;-)
ReplyDeleteOnce it gets warm, I'm in flip flops 100% of the time until it gets cold again. In fact, if I'm shopping and see cute flip flops, I buy them ... can never have too many flip flops! ;-)
Debbie- Thank you so much! I love the fruit theme in a kitchen! Reminds me of my childhood. Tucker is our little empty nest filler and we are completely ruled by him. LOL Thanks for coming by!
ReplyDeleteKathy- HEY! You know, we have pine pollen here too. That's why everyone's cars are yellow for a few months every year. LOL I'm trying to keep from asking Mother to make a lemon pie for Sunday.
April- It is nice- I'm completely addicted to the daily ocean breezes and the salt air! Once it's in your blood, you can't leave. Deanie is so excited about her new job! She was laid off in November. She never gave up either! Congrats to your hubs on his job!
Kathy/Nana- It is kind of like that. Except when traffic is bad from all the tourists. LOL I totally agree with you about those flip flops!
I was never a fan of the flip flop but living in Arizona has changed my mind,I am loving them!!
ReplyDeleteLove your plates, just love them!!!
Good Luck with your 30 day Jillian Michaels work out :)
Lucy- I bet they do come in handy in AZ! Hot there, eh? LOL Thanks! I'm not dead yet. ;)
ReplyDeleteI'm not even sure I own any shoes other than sneakers and sandals! (Okay, I do but they're kind of, um, dusty.) :)
ReplyDeleteYou must live very close to my dream location. Once my husband is done with the military telling up where we are going to live our dream is to settle in in the SC low country near the water. But it looks like that dream is still a decade or more away.
ReplyDeleteYou are so lucky living so near to the beach. Mind you, it only takes me about 15 minutes from where I live. Aren't we the lucky ones?! Love it that you pop those shoes on when you go to Walmart!! LOL! I also have a pair of shoes by the back door, which I slip on whenever I go into the garden, or pop up to the village to buy the paper. Good luck with the 30 day Shred. I KNOW that you will complete it, because you are so committed to your fitness regime, which I admire tremendously.
ReplyDeleteI'm hopping over from Joyce's Hodgepodge and wanted to say hello :)
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of living so close to the beach that you could use it as your own back yard, it sounds idyllic!
I like your dishes. I'm with you- the pear is the best. Flip flops=essential. Sounds like you're destined for houseplants. I only have one because the cats eat everything! Tucker can fly!!! Love that picture. That mug looks like it would hold just the right amount. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteMMS- I have other shoes too. But I have no idea why. Most of them are still in the box they came in. LOL
ReplyDeleteDD- It is nice here. Except for the heat--which is nearly year 'round. LOL At least we have those ocean breezes!
Diane- We are lucky indeed! I have another pair at the back door that I wear in the garden. Thanks for the vote of confidence! I'm hoping to look at least 20 lbs lighter by the end of it...we shall see!
sterlingsop- Hi! It is nice living so close. Until a hurricane comes through. Then it's scary.
Patrice- Thanks! You too!
How wonderful to be so close to the beach. We are about 1 hour away. The pie sounds wonderful. I love going barefoot. Way to go on the 30 Day Shred. I'm lucky to do Jane Fonda's Walk DVD!
ReplyDeleteYour Tucker is too cute...We would love to see our hubbies first, but our puppy babies just won't have that, now will they...LOL :o) Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteDebby- I used to do that 'walk away the pounds' dvd...actually, it was probably a VHS at that time. But I didn't stick with it. The shred is CRAZY but I'm determined! Do you still get the salt air being an hour away? That's the thing I would miss most if we ever moved.
ReplyDeleteSherri- Right! Those pups are first and they make sure we know it! Besides, what's not to love about a doggie tongue in you ears, nose, eyes first thing in the morning? LOL Thanks!
