Hump Day HOPS!

Wow- it was just last Wednesday that the family was here visiting. Now, it's just me again. And Birdie. And the dogs. And the husband. And DoodleBug sometimes.

Ok, the nest isn't all that empty right now- but that's a good thing!

Know what else is good? The Wednesday HOPS! Just click the buttons and you can play right along!

1. In an effort to combat obesity, the mayor of NYC has plans to ban the sale of large sugary drinks (anything over 16 oz.), initially in restaurants, movie theatres, and street carts. Corner stores would also be affected if they are defined as food service establishments. You can read more here . Your thoughts? Big Brother is watching. Seriously, I don't agree with taking away individual choice. Besides, if someone wants to drink that much of anything, they will. Even if it means buying two drinks instead of one.

2. Art festival, music festival, food festival...which would you most like to attend? YES please! Any and all!!!

3. What are you irrational about? Hahahahahahahaha!!!! I'm sorry, I can't stop laughing long enough to answer this one! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!...Ok, let's just say----everything that I have made up my mind about. LOL

4. Do you feel confident you'll have a comfortable retirement? Retirement? HA. No.

5. What's been your favorite Olympic moment so far? (Not ever, just in the 2012 Summer games) I don't usually watch the Olympics but, since we've had visitors here since last weekend, we kept the games on. Surprisingly, I totally enjoyed the men's rowing. It was awesome! And they were so easy on the eyes.

6. What would you label as the messiest room in your house? The family room. It's a complete and total wreck right now. But I'm working on it. Sort of.

7. Do you follow your heart or your head? Depends on the situation but, for the most part, I would say my head. Because I have to analyze everydamnthing.

8. Insert your own random thought here. We are so fortunate to live in such a great area and I really should take more opportunities to get out and explore. I don't know why I always wait until we have company to do this. Do y'all do that too? Or do you take advantage of where you live and get out and enjoy it? You can see pictures of our touring here, here and here in case you missed it! Oh! And here too!
Everyday Ruralty

Here are our questions for today:
  1. Do you like to sing? What kind of music are you likely to sing? Oh gosh YES! I absolutely LOVE to sing. But, trust me, no one wants to HEAR me sing. DoodleBug can carry a tune about as well as I can so, when no one else is around, we sing at the top of our lungs, badly. And we have a blast! I will also sing at the top of my lungs when I am alone. Tucker doesn't seem to mind. I love to sing beach music, pop, rock, gospel, Christmas music, southern rock---just about everything except country. OH, and there's dancing involved as well!
  2. Do you watch soap operas (daytime TV), or have you ever? We used to schedule our classes in college around General Hospital--the Luke and Laura years. And I also watched All My Children for a bit. But, after my own children came along there was no time for such nonsense. I've seen a few minutes here and there over the years and, in all honesty, it's the worst acting I've ever seen.
  3. Do you wear glasses or contacts? Glasses most of the time because my allergies interfere with my ability to wear contacts.
  4. What's your favorite easy meal when the weather is hot? Frozen yogurt! What? That's not a meal? Says who? LOL I am partial to a pasta salad- we had one last night.
  5. Tell me something about the past week. Some of my family was here! My dad, step-mom, and Niece1 and Niece2 and we had an absolute blast touring the city which you can see the pictures here, here and here in case you missed it! And here too!
 Have a fantastic Wednesday y'all!

  1. I can't carry a tune but that doesn't stop me from singing either : )

We've moved a lot and we've always explored the cities and countryside nearby. We would laugh at friends who were born and bred in a place and had never seen half of what we'd see in a place they'd lived all their lives.

  2. I hear you! We live in such a great area and don't do nearly enough exploring or taking advantage of all there is to see and do. I think we get caught up in living our lives - we're not on vacation, after all, like most people who visit. :)

  3. Isn't that funny we all watched General Hospital? It was huge wasn't it. When my kids were small I was in Kmart and they had a a video called Luke and Laura with all of those episodes. I still kick myself for not buying it but of course like you said I bet the acting was horrible.
I bet you are having a nice quiet time right now?
It all sounds good and I hope it cools down for you.
    Have a nice week.

  4. I love to sing, but I definitely can not carry a tune!

You've reminded me (your mention of getting out and exploring our local area) to go visit the Botanical Garden's Chinese lantern display before it closes ... it's only going to get to the lower 80's on Friday, so I think a trip to the Botanical Garden is in order. Yes, I've been there before, but not as often as I should have ... usually only with visitors/guests.

  5. Joyce- I think it has something to do with how happy raising daughters makes us. :) I know! When the lovelies were little we had a Discover Charleston unit during 2nd grade. There were 7 field trips in all and I went on every single one of them TIMES 4! I think I just got burned out. LOL

Betty- You come on up here and I'll take you everywhere! And then we'll sit on the beach and watch the birds!

MMS- I think so too. But I'm going to stop that and start taking advantage of it all!

Kim- I don't remember thinking the acting was horrid back then. But now, I flip through and see a few seconds of one and think, really? That's acting? I could do that. LOL Thanks!

Kathy- I think it means we're so happy it doesn't matter what we sing, we just have a song in our hearts! Yes! That sounds like a fantastic trip!

  6. With the exception of out baseball team and the fabulous park they play in, I'm guilty of not exploring my own hometown and I haven't be3en here long enough to be that jaded!

  7. I do try and visit some of the great places South Florida has to offer, but I admit I haven't seen probably half. I've lived here 25 years and have never been to the Keys. Ever. Shame on me.

Oh, and to answer your question, yes, frozen yogurt is most definitely a meal ;).

Have a blessed rest of your week!

  9. As always, I loved your answers :)

You know, we lived in Savannah for 5 years, and never explored any of the historic downtown area...One of these days, I'm gonna' do that!

  10. I can't tell you how much frozen yogurt I've eaten in my life. Love the stuff, and haven't had any for the past five years. Now I'm hungry for it again. I loved reading all your answers. I remember years ago watching All My Children, but after skipping it for several months, I came back and couldn't believe how the plot had hardly advanced at all!! And I'm with you on freedom of thought and choice.

  12. How come we can't sing well when we love it so much? I'm in your same bucket looking for the tune. It sounds right in my head but apparently something happens when my voice gets involved.

And, too true, we should be better tourists at home. there's lots of cool stuff to see and do here. It does take visitors to get us looking, though. So, come on up to the wet side and visit a while.

  13. Nani- The baseball field is another place I've not visited though I hear it's really nice. But, in that case, I just don't like baseball. Now, if it was a football team---LOL

Arlene- Sometimes I think that most of the reason I haven't done that much is because there are so many tourists in the area and the prices for the paid attractions reflect that fact in a big way. I was hoping someone else agreed with me about the yogurt. LOL

jenn- YES! It's good for just about any meal! LOL

Kathy- I love Savannah! I've only been twice and both times we were there for D3's soccer games but it was a lovely city! Y'all have tons of history just like we do here in Charleston!

Judy- I love it too. And have had way too much this summer. Which is really bad. I know what you mean about the plot not progressing in the soaps. That was one of the most annoying things about them! Thanks!

Tami- Thanks! We were at a wedding and they had one of those photo booths and we had the best time goofing off in that thing! Thanks for stopping by!

Stephanie- I don't know. We just have a song in our hearts but not our vocal chords? LOL I would LOVE to visit up there! But I think I might never leave what with you cooler temps and friendly folks!
