Hodgy Podging- and a Little Bit of Chattin'

I can always keep Wednesdays straight thanks to Joyce and the Hodge Podge! It's such a treat to read how everyone answers the questions! Just give that button there a click and head over to From This Side of the Pond to join in!

There's also some chattin' going on over at Patrice's-she had to spend some time in the ER with DD3 yesterday, so we're chattin' it up on Wednesday!

1.  ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL?  The NFL is back in action along with all the college teams.  Are you a fan?  Who do you root for?  If you're not a fan what do you do while the rest of America watches Saturday, Sunday, Monday night, and now Thursday night games? Is this a rhetorical question? Hell to the YES! I am ready for some football! It's what I live for from February until preseason in August! And, now that Knology has come to us, I can get pretty much all of the games AND, if I miss game time? No problem, the NFL channel shows them over and over again! WooHoo! BEST football season EVER! Even if the dang Panthers suck again. At least my Cowboys won! And I also have a bunch of college football channels too! I'm in football heaven all day Saturday and Sunday and any other time I can catch a game!

2. What's something I'll always find in your closet? Besides clothes and shoes and purses? Hmmm....well, I keep my sewing kit in there.

3. Share one of your earliest memories. I can remember the anticipation of Christmas Eve 1960 (just a couple of weeks shy of my 3rd birthday) --I was sitting down then lying down on our sofa and then jumping up to see if my parents were ready to leave for my grandparents house. BUT then, on the way home, I SAW SANTA IN THE SKY. I DID! And I have believed in him since. Yes, even now. And I'm not embarrassed.

4. What circus act best describes your week so far? I hate the circus and have only been once when I was 5 years old. I was so upset about those poor animals and I haven't changed my opinion in all these years. That being said---what's the busiest act in a circus? Do they ever have a time when everything is going on at once? Well, that's my week. I starting teaching computer Monday at the elementary school the lovelies attended--5 days/week people and I am NOT used to it! It's KA-RAY-ZEE! But I'm so glad to be back with the elementary kids- I really enjoy teaching that age group!

5. What's a food you disliked as a child but you love now? Nothing. I still dislike everything that I disliked as a child.

6.  Describe your summer in three words. Hot as hell.

7.  Where were you on September 11, 2001? Will you do anything special to mark the day this year? I don't remember. No.

8.  Insert your own random thought here. There are so many pluses about going back to teaching. And not just because I enjoy it and I'll be making money (anyone who has ever taught knows it's NEVER about the money because teachers don't make squat) but I have missed those people up at the school like crazy! It's so good to be back among such wonderful, caring, happy people. AND, the school is only 3 years old so everything is still new. AND, there's an upstairs now and while two computer labs are downstairs, there's one upstairs. We're administering MAP testing right now so on Monday I was up those stairs 11 times. Yesterday, only 10. I'm just looking at it as a fitness plus! And hoping to see some benefits soon!

QUESTIONS
  1. What's the last thing that made you cry? I am one of those people who HATES to cry. I hate it so much that I fight it tooth and nail. And I'm really, really private about the things I cry about--except movies, some books, music...stuff like that. I did tear up in a couple of parts in book one and two of the Fifty Shades books. The main male character has an early childhood that is heart wrenching.
  2. Have you ever had any small pets, other than cats or dogs? Yes. I had a hamster named Chili Bean and a parakeet. Can't remember the bird's name though.
  3. Waffles or pancakes? WAFFLES!!! And now I want some.
  4. Do you like politics? We don't need to know who you want to vote for if you are in the US, facing the upcoming election- just asking if you find the whole thing interesting. No, I don't. I think it's become a farce. And I don't pay any attention to what they say.My biggest problem is that I have no respect for politics or politicians.
  5. Please fill in the blanks: If only I could be more selfish then I could just pick up and go where I want when I want. The walls are closing in folks.

That's it for today! Hope everyone has a fantastic rest of the week! I'll be reading everyone's answers ASAP. If those stairs don't kill me.

  1. Uh, yeah-how 'bout those Cowboys? Said the girl who lives in Giant country : ) I root for the Jets here anyway.

Happy back to school! I'm sure it's quite an adjustment but you'll get into a routine soon enough.

  2. As always great answers. I was wondering today how you liked your job. Climbing those stairs will be awesome. My school room is upstairs and I bet now I go up and down them 20 times a day since the phone is downstairs and so is the washer and dryer and everything else so that is a good thing.
It is still Hot as Hell here too. It is going to be 100 tomorrow and all weekend.
I thought you were getting a bit of a cool down? Did you?
    Have a nice day.

  3. Have I been locked away in a cupboard or something? What job??? Stairs? Maybe D3 isn't the only one who hit her head. Help. I'm lost. I must have missed one very important post. Agreed with your answers- especially the one about politics. Have a good rest of the week! What job?

  4. Too bad politicians don't see how poorly they rate in the eyes of average Americans. Maybe then they'd straighten their act. Or then again, maybe not.

Have a great rest of your week.

  5. Joyce- The who??? LOL I'm not totally opposed to the Jets myself. I just don't care for their coach. There are only a few teams I can't stand--the Saints, for one. But don't tell anyone cause a lot of folks around here love 'em. LOL

Kim- I love it! Those little kids are the BEST! And the stairs provide great exercise- at least that's how I'm looking at it. We did get a cool down, but it's sort of over for a few days. Still not in the 90s though, that God for that! I can't believe y'all are going to be in the 100s again. At least we do have the sea breeze to help some over here.

Patrice-LOL I was offered the job of computer lab teacher at the elementary school the girls attended and I took it! I love teaching that age and the hours are perfect so I just couldn't say no. The new school (it's only three years old) is two story so I have to climb stairs to get to the third computer lab. I climbed them 11 times Monday, 10 times Tuesday and today- only 6 times!

  6. Arlene- I think they're too busy looking at themselves in the mirror to notice how we feel. You have a great rest of the week too!

  7. I love homemade waffles, but my favorite breakfast restaurant is IHOP, especially at this time of year; pumpkin spice pancakes!

I agree that teachers don't do it for the money, the can't do it for the money, but more than any other job, they do it to shape the future for the better.

By the way your Monday list of songs that embarrass you for working out are all on my iTunes! My husband thinks my musical taste is too young for my skin! LOL

  8. You've got a job, and you still have the time and energy to still blog??? I'm impressed! Best wishes with your new endeavor :)

  9. Nani- Girl, I have to stay far, far away from IHOP- otherwise, I would go there and eat and eat and eat and eat...and eat some more! I LOVE it there! I'm so glad to find out there are so many of us out there who are listening to those songs! I'm in good company for sure! :)

Kathy- I'm trying to have the energy. We'll see how long it lasts! The main thing is that I've met so many extremely lovely folks out here in blogland, that I just can't bear to not keep going! Thanks!

  10. Totally agree with you about the teaching -- the early mornings are a pain, but it's great to be back with the students again! :)

  11. Wow, back to school! Sounds like fun. I bet you'll enjoy it a lot. :-) And I always get a kick out of your enthusiasm for football and your hatred of hot weather. Too bad you can't muster up some real opinions, Pam! LOL

  12. Teaching uh? You sure know how to liven up your life...lol

  13. Plum- It's even worse when you have to take two dogs on a one mile walk before you leave for school. Sheesh. LOL

Judy- I know. I do tend to be shy. LOL I am enjoying it immensely! It's so good to be back!

Alessandra- Yep. But I'm teaching at the elementary level- they're much nicer than your grade level. LOL

Betty- Thanks! I'm really loving it!

  14. Pam, I HAVE been more selfish, picking up and going where I want. I got tired of waiting for the perfect time to do thing and see things that I want to see. Now, all of my kiddos are in school, and I don't need to be here every minute of every day. I've been going on little solo trips all over the US every few months for the last year and a half & I've been LOVING it. Don't wait, life is TOO SHORT - go for it! :)

Thank you so much for taking the time to comment! It makes me feel connected to everyone even though we may live far apart! Have a wonderful day!
