Hodgy and Podgy and HUMPUS DAY

And so Wednesday finally arrives. Good grief- I've been in a kindergarten classroom for two weeks now in the afternoons covering for the teacher because she fell and whacked her head on a table over three weeks ago and still has not fully recovered. I have to wonder if it's because it's SO FREAKING EXHAUSTING being around 22 5-year-olds every single freaking day of the week?????? If they weren't so dang cute-----

Anyway, not only does this mean only two more days of the work week, it also means it's time for some hodgy podging! Just click the button to join in the HUMP DAY FUN!

1. It's a brand new month...share one thing you're looking forward to in October. Only one? Then it would have to be Birdie's birthday! She'll be 24 on the 14th!

2.  Is chivalry dead?  Explain. Not completely. There are still a few chivalrous fellows out there. I know three personally- my oldest brother, my dad and my best friend. I find them all to be quite chivalrous guys. Regardless of the situation, you'll find these three men to be the epitome of generosity, courtesy, and gallantry. But, as far as the general public goes? I very rarely IF ever see it.

3.  On October 2, 1950 the Peanuts comic strip made its debut.  Which character is your favorite?  Which character is most like you?  (Charlie Brown, Lucy, Linus, Shroeder, Snoopy, Woodstock, or Pig Pen)  If you need a description click here . I always loved Snoopy the most. But Lucy is the character most like me.

4.  What's something you're competitive about? E.V.E.R.Y.T.H.I.N.G. And I am NOT exaggerating.

5. October is National Popcorn Popping Month...are you a fan?  How do you like your popcorn? I can take popcorn or leave it. Mostly, I leave it. Unless it has TONS of notgoodforanyone butter at the movies. Then I'll take it---darn right!

6.  When did you first realize the world is small? I'm not sure but I do know it had something to do with a connection between a new friend and an old friend. Or something like that.

7.  In terms of architecture, what's the most beautiful building you've seen up close and in person? None really. I've been to several places but that was when I was a kid and I wasn't really into looking at architecture. I do enjoy the architecture of the older buildings, churches and plantations here in Charleston though.

8.  Insert your own random thought here. I tried lasagna last night for the college group with spinach and tofu. It was really good! I was quite surprised. The weather dude claims fall temps should be here next week. If he's lying, I'll never forgive him. If he gets it right, I'm going to marry him!

It's HUMP DAY! Have a great rest of the week!

  1. Sounds like you are enjoying your work.
I like carmel corn which isn't really popcorn but I still like it better than popcorn lol, I think I prefer sweet to salty, most of the time.

We have several birthdays this month but my youngest is turning 21!
Ah, Chivalry, I think sometimes men remember to use it but I think we have made it confusing for the poor guys, they are not sure when and if they are stepping on our independence toes lol

  2. Lucy- Our youngest turned 21 in July. And I was a little bit sad about that. She's the one who promised to stay little so she could live with me forever. :) Three of my brothers have October birthdays too! So true about the chivalry! LOL

  5. Charleston has some of the most beautiful architecture that I've ever seen. I love it!

I'm a lot like Lucy, too.

  6. I would be so exhausted after that many five year olds. My grandsons are that age and I am so tired after they leave. I liked Snoopy too. I am a fan of Linus. Though I do like Charlie Brown pretty well.
So glad you are doing so well teaching. You know what, I bet if we were dieting together we would get to goal. I mean where I could see you because I am so competitive like that too. :) I guess it is safer we are so far apart. It is supposed to be cooler here too. Yahoo!!
Have a great rest of the week.

  7. My first teaching position was teaching 4 years old. It was best job I ever had. I was much younger and a few pounds lighter and I could get down on the floor with them. My people in the world are 4 your olds. They keep us on our toes.

  8. My Hubby is one of the most chivalrous people I know! and it's one of the things I love about him.
    Love Snoopy too.
I think you have gorgeous buildings in Charleston- rem the tour you gave us in summer? Loved it!

  9. That lasagna sounds good! Got a recipe for it somewhere? Glad to hear that it may be cooling down a bit soon! I'm sure you sleep good after working with those many kindergarteners daily! I think I'd come home and just about plant myself on the sofa and not ever get up for the rest of the evening :)

  11. My husband always opens the car - and pretty much any other - door for me. It's a little thing but it makes me feel, I don't know, old-fashioned feminine and cared for. :)

  12. Certainly hope you get that cooler weather. And I love the architecture of Charleston.

I have a bit of Lucy in me as well. ;-)

  13. Snoopy is the best! I think I was probably a Lucy-like big sister. Schroeder intrigued me...still does.

I didn't know popcorn had its own month. Won't make me eat any more of it, though. And, chivalry is not dead. There is still honor in men and gentleness towards those they love. I see it in my son every day.

  14. Kathy- I agree! I’ve always enjoyed looking at it!

Kim- I am exhausted every single day of the week. I loved the Peanuts gang. Always have, always will. I still watch their holiday specials. I bet we could too. I thought about how great it would be to live close together but then thought that we’d probably never get anything done other than visiting with each other. LOL

retired- I was in the 4 year old class last week for one morning. It was…interesting. LOL They kept me on my toes until I got home and fell out from exhaustion.

Mimi- Lucky! Mine is far from chivalrous. I do love living here in Charleston. And I’m so glad you enjoyed the tour! I’ll have to do it again soon!

betty- The recipe was good. I got it here: http://www.tasteofhome.com/Recipes/Tofu-Spinach-Lasagna Looks like next week is our week! I’m praying that they’re right about the cool down!

Betty- If SHE’S coming home exhausted, you can imagine what an old gal like me feels like. LOL Paid? What’s that?

Nani- I know! Must maintain the balance. LOL I know, I know. But that’s the relationship I have with the weather dude.

MMS- Mine used to do that for me too but I made him stop. I told him I can open the door for myself. LOL

Kathy- Me too! On both counts! LOL

Stephanie- I love them all! But I’ve always had a big mouth like Lucy. And I might be a little opinionated too. I didn’t know that about popcorn either. No, it’s not dead- I know three men who possess it. And with your son, that’s 4 in the world, so…LOL

  15. It must be stressful to be so competitive. Enjoy Birdie's birthday! We were a little bit cooler today, it felt good.
