Hodgey Podgey and Gobble, Gobble
It's TURKEY EVE! Before you get all bogged down in all that cooking or traveling or letting all those relatives in your houses---hop over to Joyce's and join in with some Thanksgiving Hodge Podge fun!
1. Turkey-love it or leave it? White meat or dark? What's your favorite thing to make using leftover turkey? LOVE it! Dark! Sandwiches!
2. Gotta burn off all those carbs the day after a holiday feast so which would you rather do-run a 10K or climb a mountain? Climb a mountain. As in hiking though. NOT as in actual mountain climbing. I'm not completely crazy.
3. Do you feel like social networking has made your relationships better or worse? Explain. I don't know if better or worse is the right way to describe it. I think social networking definitely keeps me in touch with folks I would otherwise only see/hear from once a year. But I don't think it does anything for making relationships better or worse. Social networking is not for improving or ruining relationships. It's just a way to stay connected....surface connected like 'I'm still here' but it doesn't provide the necessary tools to strengthen or weaken relationships. Unless someone says something really mean about someone else, like on facebook...THAT might make a relationship worse. LOL
4. How do you find and express gratitude for the hard things in your life? I try to remember that those are the times that mold me into the person I am and that they are the most important times of learning.
5. In the US, the day after Thanksgiving has been dubbed 'Black Friday'. Is most of your holiday shopping done live and in person, or is it done more through the magic of the Internet? How do you feel about stores opening at midnight Thanksgiving night? Will you be out amongst the masses on Friday? I'm not going anywhere near the stores on Friday. I really hate that Thanksgiving has become all about the almighty dollar. I refuse to allow gross commercialism to ruin my time with my family on Thanksgiving. Plus- if I went out there and one single person elbowed me or said something rude to me....well, let's just say that it would BE ON LIKE DONKEY KONG. :)
6. Speaking of the color black-which black item in your wardrobe would you say is your favorite? Probably my black yoga pants. I don't use them for yoga (I'm just not patient enough for yoga) but I do exercise in them in the cool months. Of course, I have several other items too...most of my wardrobe is black.
7. What do you appreciate about your life today? EVERYTHING! Especially the lovelies!
8. Insert your own random thought here. If you didn't get a chance to read yesterday's post, I asked for prayer for a friend of DoodleBug's who was struck and killed by a car on Sunday and I'd like to continue that request today. Her parents have arrived from England. It's such a tragedy- I know they would appreciate your thoughts and prayers.
I hope everyone has a safe, fun and family filled Thanksgiving! Love and hugs, y'all!

Those poor parents have come to mind several times since I read your post yesterday. They are in my prayers.
ReplyDeleteHope you have a nice day with your girls who are home...when something like that happens it seems like the unimportant things in life fall away for a bit and we focus on the people we love and are so lucky to have in our lives.
Amen to #5! I will be praying for that family. So sad! And a little extra scary for me because on Monday my brother was riding his bike home from work and got hit by a car. Thankfully he is doing well, but it could have been so much worse!
ReplyDeleteI love just reading, "on like Donkey Kong." Made my day. Have a nice holiday.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear about DoodleBug's friend. What a tragedy.
ReplyDeleteWishing you and yours a Happy Thanksgiving.
Joyce- You are so right about that. It's a shame most of us can't remember that from day to day without having to be close to an experience like this. It's hard to fight human nature, I guess. Thank you so much for your prayers. I know they are appreciated. Give your girls an extra hug from me.
ReplyDeleteV&D- SO glad your brother is doing well! It certainly could have been worse- I'm glad it wasn't. DoodleBug rides her bike to campus every day. We might have to put a stop to that.
Wayne- So glad you enjoyed that!
Kathy- It really is a tragedy. Happy Thanksgiving to y'all, too!
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!!
ReplyDeleteI love the Dark meat too and have a horrible habit of adding salt, mayo and ketchup in order to eat the white meat, yeah, not healthy.
Oh, and I agree with all the commercial stuff but my Sunday post did not go over well, so I guess I am in the minority, oops!
I hate when tragedy strikes the young. It hurts everyone. Soory for your daughter's hurt.
ReplyDeleteYou too Pam. I know you will have an awesome day and yes, I will be wearing my yoga pants too.
ReplyDeleteI don't do yoga either. It just bugged me and I could never get the idea that I looked like a water buffalo rolling around on the floor. :)
I am praying for your DoodleBug's friend and family and yours too.
Have a great day.
I read yesterday's post, too. That is so sad. I have no idea how I would handle knowing that, even though it wasn't my fault, I caused someone's death. Especially a young person's death. It's just sad beyond words.
ReplyDeleteOn a happier note: Happy Thanksgiving!
My heart goes out to Hanna(h)'s friends and her parents who have gone to fetch her home. It is so sad to hear about the loss of life in young people and all who knew her will be affected for their whole lives. I bet she was looking forward to celebrating a US holiday with you all tomorrow too. Bless her.
ReplyDeleteAs my kids travelled home from college I kept thinking about Ds friend. Why does it take a tragedy for me to be thankful for the little things?
ReplyDeleteDark meat here too!!! YUM!!!
Black is a good base color for a wardrobe!
ReplyDeleteMy prayers go out for Doodlebug's friend's family. Losing a child is so tragic and when it's sudden and unexpected it's worse, harder to process.
I hope you all can have a sweet Thanksgiving together. Yesterday's post is such a reminder of how we need to hold our loved ones close and cherish each moment.
ReplyDeleteLucy- Well, the mayo is mandatory. LOL Uh oh. I've got to get over to your blog and read Sunday's post.
ReplyDeleteretired- I hate it too. I'm just trying to help her find answers right now. Hoping being around all the family tomorrow will help ease her mind at least for a minute or two.
Kim- You look like too?! LOL Hope y'all have a wonderful Thanksgiving! We're going to head to my brother's with his pieS. :)
small town- It's been so hard for everyone. But with time, and prayer, I'm hoping everyone will find some sort of peace. Happy Thanksgiving to y'all too!
sterlingops- She was looking forward to it. She was the life of the party. I am so sad for her parents. Terrible way to have to take your daughter home. Some of the team are coming over here tomorrow night. Hope I can hold it together.
deb-I don't know but it sure seems like that's just what it does take to refocus us. Looking forward to some turkey tomorrow!
Nani- I wear it all the time. I'm just comfortable in it. Thank you for your prayers. They are greatly appreciated.
Judy- Got the soap yesterday! And now I'm thinking I don't want to give any of it away. LOL We are going to my brother's house and DoodleBug adores him. He's going to spend time with her. I know he'll help her feel a bit better.
Did say a prayer for the parents; will continue to pray.
ReplyDeleteI do hope you have a great Thanksgiving!!! We do have so much to be thankful for!
betty
Tragedy such as that certainly makes us all more thankful for what we have.
ReplyDeleteHow did I miss this yesterday! Very few people said dark meat.
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed reading your answers and I have been praying. ((HUGS))
I think you and I are alone (at least of the blogs I've read) on the dark meat.
ReplyDeleteMy heart still breaks for the family of Doodlebug's friend.
I tried yoga once. Oh my gosh, I had no idea it was so hard. lol
ReplyDeleteI sure do love a turkey sandwich...mayo, cranberry sauce and mustard. I know that doesn't sound the best, but it is SO yummy. I love my black yoga pants too....and yoga is NOT for me. It's hard! I am so sorry for the loss of Doodlebug's friend...so heartbreaking!
