Hodge Podge
How is it that Wednesday rolls around so quickly every week?
Probably because we are looking forward to the Hodge Podge! Just give the button a click to join in the fun!
1. April 15th is the deadline for Americans to file their state and federal income tax returns. What's a job you do on a regular basis that could be described as 'taxing'? Just going to school every day. Spring break messed me up. It threw off our momentum and no one has really recovered. Y'all know how I don't care for summer? Well, this year- I. Am. Ready.
2. I'm participating in the April A-Z blog challenge, and the Hodgepodge happens to fall on Day O this week. In keeping with that theme...olives, onions, oysters, okra...of the foods mentioned, what's your favorite O food? Well, NOT oysters. Ew. We host oyster roasts every year but I don't eat those nasty things. They look like something that gets coughed up not eaten. Gross. Olives, onions and okra- yes, please, to all three!
3. What is something memorable you experienced as a child that your own children (or future children/nieces/nephews) will not get to experience? I've thought and thought about this one. I can't come up with anything other than the stupid rotary phones because, in all honesty, I tried very hard to give the lovelies as many similar experiences to my childhood as I could. But those phones? Don't miss them at all. I like cell phones and call waiting.
4. Term limits for our elected officials...your thoughts? YES! Hell to the YES! Immediately, if not sooner!
5. On April 18th, 1775, Paul Revere made his famous 'midnight ride'...when did you last make a midnight ride? Perhaps the fate of a nation wasn't hanging in the balance, but tell us where you were headed anyway. We travel a lot at night. I prefer it. The traffic seems to be lighter. The last time was coming home from NC in December. Not near as exciting as the midnight trip home from a wedding last May. We followed the GPS. Ha!
6. What would freak you out more...a mouse running across your floor or a big fat hairy spider? Probably the mouse because they're so fast and I imagine it would be sudden.
7. I love it when people ask me________________________? ...about the lovelies. But they better be ready to sit a while. I have loads to say about them. LOL
8. Insert your own random thought here. Life has gone back to the drudgery that is an empty nest when the lovelies first leave after a visit. I always readjust, but the first few days are just downers. You just can't have all that fun and excited and not miss it when it leaves again and again and again. My positive thought? At least they do always come back! :) AND, DoodleBug wants to move back home for a few months so that's definitely a positive! WooHoo! We'll be organizing her room this weekend. She's already bringing stuff from her downtown apartment. Can. Not. Wait!
Hope y'all are having a wonderful week!

You SC people who don't eat oysters? I thought it was the law if you were a resident : )
ReplyDeleteI get the too quiet house readjustment. It doesn't get easier, but you do press on and get back to where you need to be. Hopefully you've already got a 'next visit' penciled in on your calendar!
Doodlebug moving back home...brilliant! You'll love that!
ReplyDeleteI dn't like oysters, even thoug we've a good few of them here, and an oyster festival in Clarinbridge.
I'm about ready for the summer holidays now, and we've 6 weeks to go!! It's been a long year!
My oldest will be home for 3 weeks before she heads to Wyoming for a summer internship.
ReplyDeleteI didn't realize that you don't eat oysters! I thought for sure with your roasts you would be eating them. Yes it did take forever to dial the phone. How wonderful for you to have DoodleBug coming for a stay.
