Silly Hodgepodge

The lazy summer daze days continue to saunter by slowly. I'm spending most of my afternoons inside watching 'Fringe' on Netfilx. I never watched it while it was still running on Fox because I just don't usually watch that much television during the school year. I prefer watching them on Netflix or Hulu anyway because I don't have to wait until next week or next season. A cliffhanger doesn't bother me when I can watch the entire series without the wait! Of course, nothing else is getting done around here. Except the Hodgepodge!

Just click the button and come join in the fun!

1. Picture postcards were first printed back in the mid-1800's and deltiology is the official name for postcard collecting. When did you last send a postcard?  Receive one? Do you save postcards sent to you? Do you collect and/or send postcards when you travel? I have no idea when the last was that I sent a postcard. BUT, DoodleBug sent everyone postcards from Europe while she was there. I do save any postcards that are sent my way but I don't recall ever collecting them when I have gone anywhere. That's what picture taking is all about, isn't it?

2. What treat do you most like to indulge in while on vacation? We don't go on vacation. But, every so often, I hit the Froyo place. Which, thanks to this question, seems like a very good idea right about now. :)

3. Are you good at hiding your feelings? Most of the time. But you don't want to be here when I'm not.

4. Does your town/city/county still deliver telephone books to your home? Do you check the yellow pages when searching for a local business number or has the internet replaced the phone book in your home? Yes they do and I HATE it. The internet has replaced it in my home and I wish they'd stop producing them. Waste of time/energy/resources/money/etc.

5. Would you rather be first or last? Most of the time I want to be first.

6. July is National Park and Recreation Month (in America, but everyone can still play along)...where and when were you last in a park?  Did you participate in any recreational activities while you were there? Either the heat has affected my mental abilities or I simply just can't remember the last time I was at a park. I do take Tucker to a local county park sometimes because they have a dog park in there. But I don't partake in any recreational activities they offer. Though we sure did when the lovelies were coming along!

7.  What was one of your worst ideas? There have been so many....I know this and yet, I can't think of one to tell y'all about... How about this: every time I start a project I fail to realize how big is really is and I get in way over my head.

8.  Insert your own random thought here. DoodleBug nannies for two kids downtown Charleston in the summers. They are so cute and, sometimes, I get silly pictures and hilarious text messages from DoodleBug. Like yesterday---

TEXT: "Apparently I've come down with a rare disease caused by silly children. I may not make it."

TEXT: "It's spreading!"

And then today she sends me a picture of one of several pattern books the kids' dad found inside an old house he's renovating.

The text read: "Half of them say this, hilarious."

Ha! I guess I won't be wearing one of those dresses then. LOL I suppose people today would have a conniption fit if they saw that written on something. The thing I can't believe is how much that pattern was---FIFTY CENTS! Today it would cost at least $8.00...on sale! That bothers me way more than the chubby comment. :)

Have a wonderful Wednesday, y'all!

  1. Oh wow, I love the old pattern! Just flashed back to the days of my mom sewing for us, and how much I loved looking through the pattern books.

  2. Joyce- My girls love for my mother to make them dresses from old patterns. She used to make most of my clothes too. Though I was more appreciative of store bought clothes. Go figure. LOL

  4. I sent postcards from Europe too. Trips like that are worthy of a postcard! I had to Google Froyo, never heard of them before. I think before long they will stop printing the phone books. Generations like my dad still use them. Love the photos from Doodlebug. Those magazine are priceless!

  5. Kim- Right?! At least they had the nerve to say certain things are not going to look good on certain people.

Debby- I didn't think about that but my dad uses them too. We all did enjoy getting postcards from Europe. We felt so important! LOL

  6. Love the 'silly' photo and one of my favorite things to do is read old magazines, times change, money, sayings, and all kinds of interesting things. Oh, I love postcards, sometimes they capture the area better than my photos :)

  8. Lucy- I enjoy doing that too. It's crazy how inexpensive things were back in the day. Though people probably didn't think so at the time. Some postcards are really nice. The ones DoodleBug sent me from Europe were gorgeous!

Terri- I'm so glad you got a laugh! That makes me feel good! And you are just too kind with your compliments. But I love them! Thank you!
