School is starting up again next week. My room is almost ready. I'll try to remember to take some pix for y'all! Meanwhile, let's get on with the best part of Wednesday- the Hodgepodge!
1. My daughter earned her Master's Degree this past weekend...what's something you've 'mastered' in recent weeks or months? Ha! I haven't mastered a darn thing lately. I did earn my Master's Degree but that was way back in the early 80's. DoodleBug has decided to get her Master's too!
2. What song most reminds you of your childhood? "Baby Love" ! My cousin and I used to take turns being Diana Ross while standing on the ottoman with a hairbrush and singing at the top of our seven year old lungs! LOL
3. What do you think about single gender groups and/or events? Should everygroup/event be open to both genders? If not, what sort of exceptions do you think are appropriate? My views on this are quite varied according to situation/event/etc. It's just too much to write here. If you want to narrow the question down to specifics, I can give you a better response.
4. What's your favorite spice? Your favorite dish containing your favorite spice? I don't have a favorite spice. I have run across a paprika chicken dish that is quite tasty though. I have never really 'mastered' (LOL) the art of cooking with spices. I just throw stuff in the pot. Ha! I do tend to enjoy the creole seasonings and the Greek.
5. I saw this question on Marla's facebook page and asked if I could
Chevron patterns are everywhere! Do you like it or think its just a little too much? Do you own anything 'chevron'? It makes me dizzy. I don't love it but I don't hate it. However, I won't wear it because I'm generally not a fan of wearing what everyone else has donned. Except Yoga pants. I do enjoy the hell out of my Yoga pants. :)
6. What's something you disliked as a child, but can fully appreciate now? NAPS!
7. What can irritate you very quickly? Disrespect from a student.
8. Insert your own random thought here. I'm back to school officially tomorrow. But I've been back all week working on my room. When we go back officially, there's never enough time to get the rooms done just right if I don't get in there ahead of time. And I'm not the only one. It always amazed me just how much time and money (their OWN money) teachers put in to their classrooms just so the students will feel good about their learning environment.
My school starts the 27th and even for me as a bus drive I spend a bit of time before school getting my bus ready. Since you know my runs are 2.5 hours twice a day I have things for my students to do each day and that means getting things in the bus safely and put someplace where it can be easy to get to without anyone moving around. Nothing like a teacher but still something. I really respect teachers and all they do.
ReplyDeleteNext week I have 3 evenings of safty training for the bus and 1 full day for the other school. So you know where I will be while you are teaching.
Take care Pam and enjoy your kids. You are one very awesome teacher.
Blessings!!
You should be very proud of yourself for getting your masters. I didn't even attend college. Naps....fun answer! Yes I think teachers are amazing at what they do.
ReplyDeleteJulie- My schedule pales in comparison to yours. It always does. I don't know where you get your drive but I am always so envious of it! I know the parents appreciate feeling that their kids are safe with you driving the bus!
ReplyDeleteDebby- I can't begin to tell you how much I appreciate naps now! And I will appreciate them even more when school is back in full swing and I can't take one. LOL
I've said it before, and I really mean it. Thank you for being a teacher!! Bless you all!!
ReplyDeleteHave a great new school year! I know you'll be ready for one of those naps, just as soon as you get another chance to have one :)
ReplyDeleteYay for yoga pants!
Schools don't start here until after Labor Day so August is still summer.
ReplyDeleteSeems we all master napping once we hit a certain age : ). Hope you have a great school year!
Well I hope the year at school goes well for you! I need to get going on my kids' learning environment too, as well as my lesson plans!
ReplyDeleteLol huge fan of Maps here too... You have a great week or weekend too.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I really enjoy a good nap now too :)
ReplyDeleteEnjoy back to school!!

School already! I just get used to having the kids everywhere I go - and then they disapear back into classrooms. That also means summer is over...and it's been such a great summer. Another couple of weeks, though for us.
ReplyDeleteI like chevrons and have noticed that they're everywhere in the knitting world, too. My fave spice is cumin...the best dish is anything with cumin in it.
Thank you for giving me Diana Ross and 'Baby Love' to be playing on a continuous loop in my head today...and maybe tomorrow... :-D
