While I'm trying to figure it all out, let's join Joyce for the Hodgepodge!
1. Do you believe in miracles? Absolutely without a doubt! Little ones and big ones. And the ones straight out of those Hallmark Christmas movies ones too! Why? Because of their relationship with hope. Which is one thing I have never lost!
3. Peppermint-are you a fan? If so, what's your favorite food or beverage containing peppermint? I'm a little bit of a fan. Sometimes I like mint chocolate chip ice cream. I love Bob's peppermint balls. And I do love peppermint in my shampoo and oils. But that's really about all there is to my relationship with mint.
4. Break the ice, on thin ice, as cold as ice (emotionally, not literally)...which phrase have you run into most recently? Explain. On thin ice. As in it's the holiday season and all 601 of my students are skating on thin ice. LOL
6. 'Tis the week before Christmas...are you feeling more like Buddy the Elf or the Grinch before his heart grew? Buddy the Elf for sure! Which is why I haven't brought the hammer down on those students who are on that thin ice. :)
7. Share a favorite quote relating to Christmas. Since I mostly use the one from A Christmas Carol, I'm going to use my second favorite. It's the final sermon from The Bishop's Wife:
Tonight I want to tell you the story of an empty stocking.
Once upon a midnight clear, there was a child's cry, a blazing star hung over a stable, and wise men came with birthday gifts. We haven't forgotten that night down the centuries. We celebrate it with stars on Christmas trees, with the sound of bells, and with gifts.
But especially with gifts. You give me a book, I give you a tie. Aunt Martha has always wanted an orange squeezer and Uncle Henry can do with a new pipe. For we forget nobody, adult or child. All the stockings are filled, all that is, except one. And we have even forgotten to hang it up. The stocking for the child born in a manger. Its his birthday we're celebrating. Don't let us ever forget that.
Let us ask ourselves what He would wish for most. And then, let each put in his share, loving kindness, warm hearts, and a stretched out hand of tolerance. All the shinning gifts that make peace on earth.
And here's the video if you'd like to hear it:
8. Insert your own random thought here. Thursday is our last day of school until January 7! What?! AND, on Friday, I am going to lunch with my bestie and then, we are going to, and I quote: "Shop til we drop!" WootWoot! I can hardly wait! It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!
I'm doing a bit every day, so not feeling completely overwhelmed (Yet). Still have to tackle the grocery list, but am waiting a couple more days.
ReplyDeleteHope you enjoy your time off! My daughter who teaches in SC will be home until Jan 5th so I'm excited about that. The schools in our town go back Jan 2nd-ugh! Course we've already used four snow days, so they probably need to get the days while they can.
Merry Christmas!
Have fun shopping with your friend!!! I'm jealous of all your time off work!!!
ReplyDeleteI have to say, texting isn't a trend anymore - its a lifestyle :)
Have fun shopping on Friday. Thusday is my last day at work, too (but I go back on the 30th). I'm having lunch with my group of besties Friday. Fun!! I enjoyed your post today!! Merry Christmas to you and your family!!
ReplyDeleteDoes my dog peeing on my friends rug count....:)JP
ReplyDeleteHope you get lots accomplished on your shopping! I did 95% of my shopping online and I have only 2 more things to arrive. It's been wonderful to not have to fight the crowds at the mall. Have a BLESSED Christmas!
ReplyDeleteJoyce- I'm waiting a couple more days for the grocery shopping too. We went back to school on January 2 this year. It was awful. I think everyone figured that out and we're back to January 7. Thank goodness! I hope y'all have a marvelous Christmas! Enjoy your sweet girls!
ReplyDeleteRebecca- That's one great thing about teaching- the time off. :) And the students, of course. LOL I agree with you about the texting!
Teri- I can't wait to get some time with Bestie! We've both just been too dang busy. Enjoy your time off and have a wonderful Christmas!
BETTY!!! How are you?! I'm so glad we're friends on FB. It makes it easier, when we're so busy, to keep up! Hope y'all have a very Merry Christmas!!!
JP- Hahahahaha! Sure!
April- I've done most of mine online too. But Bestie and I just decided to get together so we're going to shop I still have those few folks who are ridiculously difficult to buy for. Have a Merry Christmas!
