Merry Hodgepodge

Anyone surrounded by uncooperative Scrooges out there? Weather too warm? Rude shoppers everywhere you go? Well, fear not! There are no Scrooges here at the Hodgepodge! It's all about friendship and fun. So click that button and join us!

1. Are you doing anything special to mark this season of Advent? If so please share. No. In years past we lit candles but I haven't even taken the advent thingy out of the attic. We used to do a whole big deal with readings and candle lighting when the lovelies were coming along. But no more.

2. Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner, Blitzen...and of course you recall, the most famous reindeer of all...so, which reindeer name best describes you this week? Probably Dasher since I've been so busy. With a wish of Blitzen. LOL

3. What's worse-too quiet or too loud? Which have you had more of lately? Definitely too loud. I cannot stand loud. I get nervous and will, if it's loud enough, nearly panic. I've had way too much loud lately though it hasn't been TOO loud.

4. This question comes to you from Zoanna over at A Penchant for Pens-thanks Zo!

When you are administratively gifted, how often do you find yourself not trusting less gifted people to do what they've committed to do?  If you are not so gifted that way, but are reliable, how do you feel when the stronger person (in that area) goes ahead and covers it before giving you a chance to come through? I've never been called 'administratively gifted' but I might have heard 'control freak.' Which means I'm not that good about trusting less 'gifted' people to do their part. I will say that I now try to avoid situations where I am not the 'in charge' person by saying, "No." AND, I'm pretty sure that this is one of the behaviors people are referring to when they mention cutting off one's nose to spite one's face.

5. What is your most dreaded task relating to the holidays? Your most looked forward to holiday task? I don't know that I dread any of them...except the un-doing of things. I look forward to everything prep related.

6. Facebook has released its list of the 'most talked about' topics of 2013. Pope Francis took the number one spot.  Does that surprise you? He was followed by election, royal baby, typhoon, and Harlem Shake. Your thoughts? What was your most talked about topic in 2013? (Facebook, around the kitchen table, or wherever it is you talk) I didn't talk about any of that. Well, the royal baby but only for a minute. Mostly, we discuss the educational system and how to fix it. Y'all are familiar with the phrase "Those who can, teach. Those who cannot, pass laws about teaching" aren't you? Well, it's true. This conversation consumes those of us in the house who teach.

7. What's something you consider a necessity that others might view as a luxury? I'm not sure. This one requires thought and I have no brain cells left. They will, hopefully, regenerate over Christmas break.

8.  Insert your own random thought here. So, I went ahead and put up one tree, some garland and a wreath for Christmas. Mr. Negative has been working on his list of things he's needed to do for the last 5 to 15 years. The other roomie still hasn't done her part. But I just decided that I was not going to let them rob me of what little bit of Christmas spirit I have left. So there. Tucker and I are enjoying ourselves regardless. :)

Happy HUMP DAY, y'all!

  1. I don't think your link is working. I follow you in my reader so hopped over that way instead. Just fyi. If you want to add a new one I can delete the incorrect link-up to you.

I'm glad you put on some Christmas cheer! Maybe hubs will surprise you by knocking out some of his list. I'm enjoying having another teacher in the family. We have lots of great talks about all manner of things educational related, parenting or the lack thereof-ha!, books, etc. Makes me miss the classroom a little.

  4. Good for you for treating yourself to a little bit of Christmas. I'm confessing to being the scrooge and have no interest in Christmas this year other than sending gifts to my girls and son. There's no excitement in Bruce and we don't exchange gifts between each other. And I have no energy to clean and decorate. I bet you can't wait for Christmas break.:-)

  5. I don't have a single decoration up yet, and if it were up to my husband, he'd be fine if nothing was put up - even the tree - bah humbug!

I hope to get it up on Sunday though!

    Have a great weekend!
