I am listening to sleet coming down now as I put the finishing touches on this post. I love the sound of sleet. There is a fine dusting of snow so far and I'm not sure if we'll get more snow or just the icy stuff. The bridges are closed so no one can really go anywhere around here because, well, we're coastal and there are bridges every ten feet. LOL
And, to top it all off, it's time for the Hodgepodge! Win-Win!
1. It's been said that one small positive thought in the morning can change your whole day. Do you think that's true? Do you find that an easy exercise most mornings? What's something positive you told yourself today? If you missed that boat, what's something positive you could tell yourself tomorrow? I don't really start the day with a positive thought, it's more like I start the day looking for positives and being very aware of any negative that tries to creep into my mind so that I can ward it off. It's quite helpful in keeping my attitude positive.
2. There will be karaoke at the next party you attend...are you in? Or will you be faking a sore throat? It depends on how much I've had to drink. LOL Either way, I won't fake a sore throat. I'm not embarrassed to tell people I suck at singing.
3. January 29th is National Puzzle Day...what's something found puzzling recently? Not much new. And, the things I do find puzzling would take longer to get into than this blog post. :)
4. Jigsaw, crossword, acrostic, logic, sudoku, word search...what's your favorite kind of puzzle, and when did you last work one? Logic puzzles are my favorites. I worked some a few go.
5. Recently a writer by the name of Amy Glass ruffled feathers with a post she wrote saying she looks down on young women with husbands and kids and she's not sorry. Among other things, she says women will be equal with men when we stop saying house work and real work are equally important. You can read the whole piece by clicking here.
What say you? Do you think men and women are equal in the 21st century? Why or why not? The best thing is to NOT get me started on this. My views come fast and fervent and, again, need a longer venue than a blog post.
6. What's a product you've noticed in the grocery store that you'd like to try, but haven't yet? Can't think of one. If I see something like this, I pretty much go ahead and give a try.
However, one year Breezy and Deanie were Alice and The White Rabbit for Halloween. Are they cute or what? :)
8. Insert your own random thought here. People, in case y'all missed it at the beginning: WE'RE HAVING A SNOW DAY!!! That means no school. That means gorgeous scenery. That means cozy inside with Bailey's Irish Cream. That means I am one happy camper. ONE! HAPPY! CAMPER!
On the other hand, I'm reading on Facebook about all these people turning their heat up to 74 and above and I just want to smack them. I've always heard that when enough people do that it puts way to much stress on the system and we lose power. Combine that with the wind and ice and I kind of want to go smack some of these people. They say that if they lose power and their houses are hot, they'll stay warm until the power comes back on. Can't wait to hear them complain about their next electric bill.
Are you having a snow day?
Yay! finally a person that loves snow! So far in life there has never been a snow storm I didn't love.
ReplyDeleteSnow Day here-makes Day#9 for my county-spring break taken :( probably most of summer :( :(
ReplyDeleteI love snow as well but honestly I am tired of the cold weather.
ReplyDeleteYes, we're having a snow day here, too! We missed out on the snow, at our house, but we had some sleet early this am.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your snow day! We only got about an inch overnight but it sure looked pretty this morning. We still have snow left from last week's snow day :)
ReplyDeleteHave a happy, happy snow day!! I hope it lasts for a bit. So nice you are at home on a Wednesday. I love your bunny picture. Such cute bunnies.
ReplyDeleteOh, and I totally wish I was having a snow day. :)
Joyful- We so rarely get it down here that I just go a bit over the top with my excitement. LOL When I was a kid we got snow every year and I loved it so much!
ReplyDeletetammy- I keep telling people down here that I'd rather have December, January and February off and work during the summer. It's just too hot down here to do anything during the summer months.
Trina- We haven't had enough cold weather for me to be tired of it yet. We keep going from the 60s to the 30s. Mother Nature must be going through menopause. LOL
Kathy- We've had freezing rain, sleet AND snow. We got it all! First time ever.
No snow day here. but we are all hoping for a rain day soon! Have fun today!!! I know you will. Love your spirit.
ReplyDelete"they lose power and their houses are hot, they'll stay warm until the power comes back on" - these people got too close to their sunlamp and fried their brains.
ReplyDeleteGreat pic - really like the expression on the rabbit.
Congratulations! I could easily send you some more snow. I don't like the icy stuff though. It is hard to keep the house warm when the daily high is 16 degrees. Wendell sends a hug.
ReplyDeleteTheresa- I am enjoying it very much! I so love snow! And I miss it.
ReplyDeleteKim- I am loving every minute of it! It's not even going to reach freezing today so I'm hoping we'll have a delayed start, at the very least, tomorrow.
BB- It's so great! I miss snow so much and am delighted when we get some. About every 4 or 5 years. LOL
bill- They certainly did. LOL Thanks! Alice is now 29 and the White Rabbit is 26. Sigh.
Patrice- I was a bit concerned when I heard we would be getting ice. Cause I do not like to lose power. We aren't going to make it out of the 20s today. I can't imagine the teens. Brrr. Hug that sweet boy back for me!
Love the picture of Alice and the White Rabbit. So adorable.
ReplyDeleteCathy- Thanks! Sadly, they aren't little anymore. Sigh.
ReplyDeleteNo snow days in central Florida, but we do have rain and cooler temps today (mid 50s). Your daughters are PRECIOUS in their costumes!! I enjoyed your Hodgepodge today!
ReplyDeleteTerri- I couldn't live in Florida. Y'all are hotter than us. LOL Thanks! On both counts. :)
ReplyDeleteYay for a snow day...we're having one here in GA., too! Of course, my hubby is stranded about 40 miles away. He's safe and warm, but can't get home. He may try it later on today...fingers crossed!
ReplyDeleteI haven't done a jigsaw puzzle in years.. I love them!
ReplyDeleteApril- We're having another one tomorrow! Hope your hubby gets home safe and sound.
ReplyDeleteHilary- I do too but I get too caught up in them. LOL
What an adorable picture! I think Alice makes a precious costume, especially on a blonde headed little girl. Enjoy your snow day!
ReplyDeleteNo we are not having a snow day however here in Canada we have a windchill warning and an extreme weather alert.
ReplyDeleteJoyce- Thanks! I sure wish they were still that little. I'm having a blast AND we have another one tomorrow. Heaven.
ReplyDeleteretired- Canada = way too cold for me! :) Stay warm!
No snow out here in CA. We are having a bit of rain. We've only had a couple days of it since October. We need lots more.
ReplyDeleteJ- Rain is what we usually get. This has been a real treat!
