Unlocking the Hodgepodge

It's my last Wednesday of summer break. Don't worry though. Since this was my summer of discontent with a man home every blasted day of summer break except for about 10 days---I'm almost glad to go back.

I'm so glad there's the Hodgepodge to always put us in a good mood!

1. What would you say is the key to success? Ha! I'll let you know as soon as I am successful at something. I suppose the key to success is to always be open to learning and applying the knowledge.

2. Have you ever been to the Florida Keys? Any desire to visit that part of the US of A? Nope. And nope. I don't travel anywhere that's hotter than where I live. Although there are a couple of friends down that way that I would go visit!

3. When and where did you last see a real live donkey? Monkey? Turkey? Donkey: at a living nativity scene a bunch of years ago; Monkey: at some place, probably a zoo (which I hate but that's not the point today) a bunch of years ago; Turkey: at Magnolia Plantation during these amazing second grade field trips each of the lovelies took.

4. An old Portuguese proverb says, 'Beware of the door with too many keys.'What do you think this means? Share an example of how this has proven true or false in your own life. Ha! Well, right now, I feel that too many people have keys to my house. And then there are four that have been lost by one person. I feel that people are robbing me of what little feelings of safety and security that I do have. I'd like to change the locks and be the only one with a key. I'm not sure what it means but I'm going to apply it to my attempts to simplify. I have too many keys or too much stuff. I don't believe that I'll find that inner peace for which I am searching until I simplify and become more aware.

5. Besides your home, vehicle, and special jewelry, what is something you keep under lock and key? Important papers.

6. When did you last get keyed up about something? Several times over the last few weeks with all this Blogger/domain renewal crap.

7. Who thinks we need an easy one right about now?  Key lime pie...yes please or no thank you? Depends on the recipe but, most likely, yes please!

8. Insert your own random thought here. Some of you know that I've been having issues with Empty Nest's domain renewal via Blogger. It's impossible to get in touch with a live person with those guys and none of their help pages were the least bit helpful. SO- Empty Nest has a new address: www.emptynest1.net

Please add me wherever it is you may need to add me or change the addy. The old addy may redirect at some point but I have no assurances of that. Which means, for now, I've lost the list of blogs I follow. They're still on Google Reader, thankfully and Bloglovin'. The folks at Bloglovin's very nicely and with great speed, changed the URL for me!

Y'all can also visit at www.grindingmygrits.blogspot.com for posts a bit more saucy. LOL

Have a great week, y'all!

  1. I never know about the keys issue. I don't like too many people having a key to our house, so I've tried to get them, only to find out that when our son stayed here to take care of the dogs, he had a key made! I can empathize with the Blogger issues and I hate it that one can never talk to a real person. ACK! Got your new domain on my list(s). :-)

  2. Judy- I need to take the keys away from the man. He's the one who has lost four keys. Everyone else has theirs from long ago. It's time to change the locks though. Thanks for putting me on your lists! This is one time it's good to be on a list. LOL

  3. Why don't you buy him a neck collar and put the keys there? Sort like a dog collar with the tag, if lost please return to, then you could write the wrong address...

  5. Alessandra- I was gonna say, "What do you mean RETURN?" Then I saw the give them the wrong address part. LOL ;)

Kathy- I'm looking forward to it! It's going to be great EXCEPT for the part where I have to leave Tucker. :(

  6. Sorry you were having problems with blogger, techy problems are so frustrating!

Quick question ..... how did you get it to say marvelous mood enhancers in stead of comments?

  7. Joyful- They truly are, aren't they? And they always seem to be waiting just around the corner. Ha! Ok, the comment thing: from your design page look on the left and go to the settings and choose posts and comments. Scroll down until you see the section, 'Comment form Message' and put whatever you want it to say right in that box! That's all there is to it!

  8. I have been enjoying your gritty new blog, and am happy to have redirected my Feedly Reader to pull this new address up for me. All is well, because I enjoy your empty nest, too!

Another great Hodgepodge! I love comparing everyone's answers and it is fun that so many people are "playing" each Wednesday!!
