Hot, Tired and Broke Hodgepodge
So, the summer weather has returned. Which makes me a very unhappy camper. VERY. UNHAPPY. It's October and the weather should not even be thinking about being in the upper 80s. This is the time of year I hate living here. This and summer. Summer that NEVER seems to let go and move on and die.
Luckily, Joyce takes my mind off the wicked weather by hosting the Hodgepodge!
1. Do you manage your own money or do you have a financial planner who helps in some way? Do those kinds of conversations stress you out? A lot or a little? Well, in order to need a financial planner, I would have to be in possession of money. I am not. There is no need to plan when there is nothing. I live paycheck to paycheck. There is nothing set up for anything other than life insurance and state retirement. Discussions about money can stress me out depending on the person with whom I am conversing.
2. The second week of October is Pet Peeve Week. Off the top of your head, share TWO of your current pet peeves. Students asking what they are supposed to do AFTER I just finished giving directions. People who talk with NO FOLLOW UP. People who leave dirty dishes in the sink like it's my freaking job to clean up after them. People who use grammar badly. Oh, wait. You just wanted two. Hahahahahaha
3. What is one thing you'd like to learn right now, this very week if you could? Nothing. I'm tired. Ask me again next week. Or the week after. Or over Thanksgiving when I have a week off and maybe won't be quite so tired.
4. How concerned are you about the recent health related news concerning Ebola? How about Enterovirus D68? I'm not concerned. Yet. I'm never quite certain how much is seriousgetupsetandhide and how much is media hype or psychological propaganda.
5. Garfield, Nemo, or Tigger-your favorite orange cartoon character? Tigger, of course.
6. I'm going to see Gone Girl with my neighborhood book club this week. So often books made into film are disappointing. What's a book turned film you thought was well done, in that the casting was 'like you pictured' when you read the book, and the film plot remained mostly true to the book plot? This has never happened for me. Hands down, without a doubt, 100% of the time, the book is better and Hollywood fails on an epic proportion.
7. What is one story your family always tells about you? Sorry, y'all. I somehow missed this question...I think I accidentally deleted it. Unfortunately, I've done so many things in my lifetime that the stories they tell are many. And I come off looking quite silly so...:)
8. Insert your own random thought here. O,M.G. Are any of y'all watching The Blacklist????? Saturday, all my college teams were either sucking it up or doing so well that the games were boring so I decided to see what was on Netflix, I saw The Blacklist and gave it a shot. I AM ADDICTED! There are 22 episodes in season. Today is Wednesday. I am on episode 17. You do the math. Ha! I LOVE this show. LOVE!
Have a great rest of the week, y'all!

I have never watched "The Blacklist", but after what you wrote about it, I just might have to check it out!
ReplyDeleteDo it! It's crazy but amazing!
DeleteWe just live up the road from each other in a sense - and I giggle at our different views on weather! I love hot weather, and long warm spells. But, I lived for YEARS in cold, wintry climates and never want to experience them again. So, perhaps that is why. Everyone is saying it's supposed to be another unseasonably cold winter here so I think you will be happy!
ReplyDeleteI know. I'm like one of two people who hate hot weather and live down here. LOL I walk out of school every day and want to cry or scream because it's so hot. Maybe if I still looked cute in summer clothes..hahaha
DeleteI have started a meme on Mondays called Memory Monday and would love to have you join in. You have lots of wonderful memories. Have a great Wednesday!
ReplyDeleteOh, I'd love to! Thanks for letting me know about it!
DeleteTelevision has become more addicting now that we can watch an entire series in a sitting or two. We don't watch much until winter, when we have forced hibernation : ) I haven't seen The Blacklist yet, might put that on our to watch list. Enjoy your day! I hope your fall weather returns for a bit.
ReplyDeleteI truly prefer it that way. I would have not been happy to wait a week between episodes with this one. It's so GOOD!
DeleteI will check out The Blacklist for my husband.I am with you on the pet peeves list and I notice you couldn't name just two either! :-)
ReplyDeleteYou really are pretty much on target about the books. Even though I felt Gone with the Wind was great on casting, they had to leave out quite a bit. These days, it would make a good mini-series and put it all in.
It's the best show I've seen in quite some time. Very intense. I agree with you about Gone with the Wind. But who would be as good as Vivien Leigh as Scarlett? LOL
DeleteOkay, I'll have to check out The Blacklist. And I know what you mean by people asking about what you've JUST explained thoroughly. I agree about most movies made from books. I was pleasantly surprised by 'The Giver' movie, plus I really liked Jeff Bridges' role which he performed magnificently. (Magnificently isn't really the right word, but 'good' doesn't quite cut it.)
ReplyDeleteI adore Jeff Bridges! And do check out The Blacklist. It's crazy intense and I love it!
DeleteI have enjoyed a few episodes of the Blacklist. I'm not one to get hooked on TV shows. I do remember the plot being complex so I guess using Netflix to start at the beginning makes sense. One Hollywood movie that was much better than the book was Forrest Gump. The story in the book was much weirder than the movie.
ReplyDeleteI prefer watching entire seasons on Netflix but I rarely find one worth following. This one is worth it. I did not read that one. But I did enjoy the movie. And that was probably why. LOL
DeleteWe are also addicted to Blacklist. It is so well done!! I'm tired, too. Like, I could put my head down right now (lunch time at work) and fall asleep in about two minutes. If it wasn't so darn hot (and humid again!), I would have gone to my car for a lunch-time nap.
ReplyDeleteI agree! I love it! It's getting hot up here again too. I can't take any more of it. I NEED cool temps. NEED.
DeleteYES! We love The Blacklist at our house! I began watching it about halfway through last season, when somebody blogged about it, so then I had to go back and catch up through Amazon. LOVE THAT SHOW!
ReplyDeleteME TOO! It's the best I've seen in ages!
DeleteI didn't get on the Blacklist band wagon but so many people are talking about it now that I'm thinking a Netflix marathon is in my near future!
ReplyDeleteI don't usually jump on those bandwagons myself. But I thought I'd give it and try and now---HOOKED! Try it!
DeleteKaren at Karen's Korner said the same thing about students asking for the directions to be repeated. My husband watches the Blacklist....maybe I should give it a try!
ReplyDeleteThe Blacklist is amazing! Those kids do it every day. Every. Single. Day.
