And then I come home and get to take part in Friday Fragments!
Not too much this week. Except that I got myself hooked on The Blacklist. O!M!Gosh! I love this show! It took me nearly one full week, but I have watched all 22 episodes of season 1 and the 3 episodes of season 2. It's excellent!
I had put a request up on Donor's Choose (a teacher's BFF) for 25 stability discs for the computer lab chairs. Two weekends ago, AT&T went to the site and funded every single teacher's page in our county. Which came to over $70,000! Our stability discs arrived this week. It was just like Christmas!
Sorry about the blurry pix- I can't seem to remember to give my phone camera a second before I take the picture.
I showed all the students who come through the lab for special area (700+) each week this video:
They were fascinated, as was I, about how computers see data as 1s and 0s and puts it together so that we see pictures, videos, games, web pages, etc. They went crazy with the questions: "Mrs. L, is that true?" "Mrs. L, how do they do that?" "Mrs. L, who invented that?" "Mrs. L, can you teach us how to do that?"
It's time for the school to find a younger, more computer savvy computer lab teacher.
I've gotten myself on so many committees this year that I am quite certain I've lost my mind. PTA Board, Newspaper, Computer Club, Olweus Bullying Prevention Committee...I'm the MAP testing coordinator and there's one more that I don't even remember...CRAP, what is it???? See, the mind is gone. Gone, I tell you. It seems there is a meeting every freaking day of the week.
Speaking of, don't forget to check out our donation page at GoFundMe. The link is on the top of the right sidebar of the blog. We would like to have an anti-bullying t-shirt for each student and faculty member by November 6th.
I think that's it for this week. Or it isn't and I'll think of something AFTER I post this. So, some of you may read this and some of the later ones of you may read more. Ha!
Have a marvelously autumnal weekend!
Score on the goodies from AT&T. God bless them for being so generous! Speaking of generous....my NuNaturals products arrived today! Wow! They also sent recipes. I can't wait to give them a try. We have been using stevia for a couple of years, now, and I just know we will love these flavors, and the packets. Thanks for running the contest!! Enjoy your weekend, Pam!!
ReplyDeleteYay! So glad they arrived and that you like them! Enjoy!
DeleteJust think...if you weren't so exhausted by Friday evenings, you'd be able to spend more quality time with the spouse! hahaha, I crack myself up. Everything that you are involved in and are brain dead from is something to help others. For that I think you deserve a huge applaud!!! You are an amazing lady. I bet the kids just love you.
ReplyDeleteThat's real funny, Barb. Real funny. :) They love me when I'm not making them cry. Hahahahahaha! Actually, I had hoped to spend some time with a friend this weekend but it just didn't pan out. Sigh.
DeleteOne day all schools will have computers but it isn't here yet
ReplyDeleteReally? Wow. I honestly thought all of them already did. This is sort of shocking to hear.
DeleteWhat an interesting video....I have a question.....Not really. Your to do list is way to busy for me.
ReplyDeleteLOL Too funny! My to-do list is too busy for me, too. :)
DeleteThank you so much for making a difference in these children's lives. They will remember you for years as the teacher that helped them love learning.
ReplyDeleteThen again, they may remember me as that teacher that yelled at them all the time. LOL I'm kidding. I only yell some of the time. Ha! Thanks!
DeleteThat is so awesome news about those stability discs!
