I cannot believe it's March already. If we don't get some winter soon, we're doomed to have none and head straight into the brutal heat of summer. I. Can't. Stand. This.
Meanwhile, I shall happily join in the Hodgepodge and enjoy the company within!
1. 'In like a lion, out like a lamb'...does the first part of this saying describing March weather ring true where you live? No. So that had better mean that we're going to get some freaking winter weather before all is said and done because winter without winter weather just sucks.
2. March 4th is National Grammar Day. What common grammatical error bothers you the most? I have to narrow that down to just ONE? It's best that you simply do not get me started on this issue.
3. William Arthur Ward says- 'The pessimist complains about the wind; the optimist expects it to change; the realist adjusts the sails.' Which one are you? I fluctuate between the optimist and the realist.
4. What's something you need to 'march forth and conquer' this month?
5. An ongoing debate around here...do you dust first, then vacuum or vacuum first, then dust? Of the two routine household chores, which do you dislike the least? How's that for wording? I dust first. Unless it's one of those days on which I skip the dusting altogether. :)
6. According to thrilllist.com, the ten most photographed sites in the U.S.A. are-Cinderella's Castle in Orlando, Southernmost House in Key West Florida, The Space Needle in Seattle, The Site of the Boston Massacre in Boston, The Bellagio Lake/fountains in Las Vegas, The Lincoln Memorial in Washington DC, Coit Tower in San Fransisco, The Art Institute of Chicago, Niagara Falls, and snagging the number one spot-The Guggenheim Museum in New York City.
How many on this list have you photographed? Which on the list would you most like to visit and photograph? Just the Lincoln Memorial and Cinderella's Castle in Orlando. I really have no interest in visiting or photographing any of those places. If you want to add something in Alaska or Maine, we'll talk.
7. Fifty years ago Monday (March 2, 1965) The Sound of Music premiered at the Rivoli Theatre in NYC. Have you seen the film? Do you own a copy? On a scale of 1-10 how much do you love it (or not)? Ten=best movie ever. If you're a fan, what's your favorite scene or song from the movie? I have seen the film. I don't mind the movie at all and would, on most days, rate it a 7. I like the opening scene and the puppet show.
8. Insert your own random thought here. I'm not kidding y'all, winter had better not be over. We haven't had anything more than a few cold days and I am NOT a happy camper. We are stuck with brutal heat for about 8 or 9 months out of the year and I WANT SOME FREAKING WINTER WEATHER.
Ok, deep breaths. We do have two milestone birthdays in our family this month! Both of my parents will turn 80! Dad's milestone in on the 11th and Mother's on the 13th. I don't think any of us are doing anything. Since they are divorced, nothing would be easy about putting together two, separate celebrations. Yes, we're slackers. Most of the time, if I don't initiate the gathering, it doesn't happen. And I'm not initiating anything during the school year. Anyway, big celebrations or not, my parents are going to turn 80!
That's it for me, y'all! Have a great rest of the week!
I relate to the 'I'm silently correcting your grammar' sign. Sometimes not so silently : ) Happy birthday to your folks! We'll be in Maine later this summer enroute to a wedding in Canada. I think Acadia National Park is one of the most beautiful places on earth, so we'll definitely stop there. We are in what feels like never-ending winter here. So weary of ice on the steps, driveway, and sidewalk. We clear and chip and it refreezes and ugh. We could use a break.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure if I lived up there I'd be sick of it too. But we just haven't had anything of which to speak. Maine is a state I've always wanted to visit. Just take a bunch of pix and I shall travel vicariously. LOL Happy birthday to your sweet SIL! Thanks, Joyce!
DeleteHappy birthday to your folks! We had our two weeks of chilly weather, here in central Florida, and I think that's all the winter we will have this year. It's back up in the 80s and the humidity is back, too. Ugh.
ReplyDeleteWe hit 80 today and my hair is a mess, which means the humidity is back here too. I'm not a happy camper. I did go ahead and through together a tea party for Mother's b'day. She's very excited. :) Thanks!
DeleteI always dust first. Happy Birthday to your parents. I too am the one who does the planning. My sister lives in Florida near my dad yet I was the one who put his party together from California! I think milestone birthday's are important to celebrate but having two parties would be hard to plan.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I'm not even going to attempt two parties. I did put together a small tea party for Mother but that's it. Thanks!
Deleteone nightstand - good one but I think that was a furniture salesman's line a long time ago. Best wishes to your parents.
ReplyDeleteHahahaha! I never thought of that. Bet it was though! Thanks!
DeleteSo people like good grammar bloody hell I flunked english at school.
ReplyDeleteWho hasn't seen The Sound of Music loved that movie seen it many times
I'm a stickler. English and history were my faves. It was math and science that stumped me. And some things never change. LOL
DeleteAs a fellow blogger, my blog listing is sandwiched between your blog listing and another one, hence my visit. I enjoyed your response to the Grammar question. We have had all too much winter weather up here in New England. We'd be happy to share!
ReplyDeleteI'm going to have to share the nightstand image. Too funny. Happy birthday to your parents.
