Tell Me Something Good: Hodgepodge

I've been MIA for a couple of weeks due to standardized testing. We've nearly succeeded in testing our kids to death. People who make decisions about education are idiots.

And now, on with the Hodgepodge!

1.  Did you make someone laugh yesterday? Was it intentional? Yep. Yep.

2. What's a simple question with a complicated answer? Any question that begins with, "Do you like..." Because it always depends on my mood and I will go into great detail as to what the affecting moods and the resulting opinions are. I have no idea why I can't just yes or no those questions.

3. Rhododendrons or azaleas...you have to choose. Are either currently blooming in your yard? Azaleas because they were all over my grandmother's yard and mine are no long blooming but they were a few weeks ago.

4. May 21st is National Waitstaff Day. Have you ever worked as a waiter/waitress? How would you rate the experience? What was the best/worst part of the job? Lord, yes. I hated it. The best part of the job was when I was off and the worst part were the people. It's always the people.

5. What fashion trend for women should be outlawed? How about one for men? Tops cut to their belly buttons and the back cut to their butt crack. Speedos. Ew.

6. Name a writer who inspires you....now tell us why. Alexander Dumas and Victor Hugo. I adore the way each of these writers wrote. They have the ability to draw me into their books and get me completely caught up in their characters. I also appreciate their grasp of society of the time and their ability to speak out via their writing and they did so with such an elegant use of the written word. They have beautifully written books.

7. What well known quote or saying sums up your plans for today or this week? I don't have a quote, but I plan to take up running again soon.

Last day of school......That is sooooo funny

8.  Insert your own random thought here. The only thought in my head right now is summer break. Even though I hate the oppressive heat, I plan to nearly explode with pure delight on June 5th.

Have a great rest of the week, y'all!

  1. My daughter teaches 3rd grade so a testing grade. She says the kids always ask what in the world they're going to do, now that the tests are over? They feel like school should be over too : ) Hoping you have an enjoyable summer!

    1. We tested our 3rd-5th graders to death this year. They took ACT Aspire, PASS and MAP. In three weeks. That was three weeks that I did not get to teach as I have to shut down all three of my computer labs for MAP testing. This happens three times each year which translates into one whole quarter of no teaching for me. Try to get all your standards met that way. Ha! The classroom teachers are just keeping them busy and I'm giving them free time in the lab. They've worked hard. Summer break can't get here fast enough!

Why do they wear clothing like that? Speedos? Saw my first and last on vacation in Italy. I wanted to was my eyes out with soap!

  9. I totally get your answer to the second question. There are so many factors to take into consideration. Sorry about all the testing. And does it really prove anything? June 5th is just around the corner. Hang in there. Have a great Memorial Day weekend, Pam. :-)
