It's the HODGEPODGE!

Ah, the Hodgepodge. Such a relief because it's fun and it signifies that the week is almost over. The second week of school has been about as grueling as the first week. That's because I have to MAP test all the students, INCLUDING kindergarten. Thaaat's right. Some super smart dumb ass power that be decided we should test the kindergarteners. The littles who, for the most part, can't work a mouse to save their lives.

And then there's this:

Anyway, now on to the REAL fun- the Hodgepodge.

1. It's hard to believe, but next week's Hodgepodge will find us in the month of September. What's one thing you want, need, or hope to do still before summer officially ends? At this point, I'll take survival.

2. When were you last at 'your wit's end'? This week when dealing with the powers that be at district office who have NOT done their part of the whole MAP testing but gave us the start date and certainly expect us to do our part. Which is difficult when our part, partly, depends on them doing their part. Sheesh.

3. Describe a time you were figuratively thrown into 'the deep end'? This week during MAP testing when the powers that be failed to complete their part of the process leaving me to explain to all the teachers why only part of their classes could be tested until a later date.

4. Does the end always, ever, or never justify the means? Explain. I don't know. I've only considered driving downtown to throttle some people over this whole MAP issue. I'll keep y'all posted.

 5. What makes your hair stand on end? People downtown who don't do their part but expect me to do mine which partly depends on them doing theirs. It's frightening, really. At least my thoughts about them are.

6. I read an article on the website Eat This! Health, that listed 11 foods we can eat to help end bad moods. Basically it's a feed your brain so you're less anxious, grouchy and lethargic. The foods are-mussels, swiss chard, blue potatoes, grass fed beef, dark chocolate, greek yogurt, asparagus, honey, cherry tomatoes, eggs, and coconut. Which of those do you think would most help end your own bad mood? Which do you fear, if forced to eat, would put you into a bad mood? Let me say that, I eat several of those items and not a damn one has helped my mood over this whole MAP testing issue. Food doesn't put me in a bad mood. People do. LOL But, I will NOT eat mussels. Ew.

7. What project around your home, office, or life in general feels like there is 'no endin sight'? Do I really need to say it? Ha!

8.  Insert your own random thought here. Even though, as usual, the powers that be are idiots, the staff/faculty/students at our school are GOLDEN! They are patient, supportive and encouraging. And I love them all!

Smile, the weekend is getting closer! Have a great rest of the week, y'all!

    1. I've always had trouble expressing myself. Haha! To be honest, we all do feel the same pain and it does help. Weird, huh? LOL Thank you!

  3. I don't know what happened to my comment, but I'll try again. I loved reading this post even tho I do feel for you having to deal with the frustrations of working with idiots. The cartoons were a hoot. So I take it the people you've been working with weren't exactly marvelous mood enhancers? :-(( Hope your week improved. Only two days till Friday!

    1. Hahahaha! No, they weren't mood enhancers. But the people at my school are! We have been trying to find the humor in it, at the expense of the powers that be at district office...and that has been hilarious! I'll be getting to everyone's blogs at some point! When the exhaustion wears off. Whenever that will be. :)

  4. Wonderful picture jokes. If it's any consolation, the children detest being tested almost as much as the testers detest the testing...did that make sense?

I like our lunch program now...children burning thousands of calories in sports are reduced to eating a dollop of this and a smidgen of that. Starving in school I suppose nurtures their minds.

Keep up the good work. The children need you!

    1. It did make sense and you are right on the money with it! The kiddos tell me they don't want to test because then they don't have computer lab with me. Is that sweet or what? Gotta love kids! Our school lunches are not small at all. Those trays are full. The problem is all the sugar in the food that some of them bring that are packed by their moms! Go figure. But our school lunches aren't back at all. For processed food. Thanks!

  5. I am with you on the heat thing. I think it just makes every thing harder to do. Then you are dealing with tests.
Well you have made it to the end of the week! That is good.
