The big things for which we are grateful are easy. And common. Family, friends, health, a roof over our heads, and the like. But what are the little things we would put on our grateful list?
Those little things that we might not even realize that we appreciate. The little things that can turn a sour day into something calm and wonderful. The little things that bring happiness to our days. The little things that turn that proverbial frown upside down.
Little Things for which I Am Grateful:
- Deep down, in my gut, so hard I can hardly breathe, and makes me cry laughter.
- The way coffee smells and how the steam rises up from the cup when you first pour it.
- The way the lights on the Christmas tree sparkle.
- The smell of rain.
- The way snow glistens during a full moon.
- A song that reminds me of a love from long ago.
- A memory that brings a smile to my face that begins in my heart.
- The rhythm of poetry. Especially when it's being read to me.
- The sound of a cello, and fog horns, and those little grunts that puppies make.
- The smell of homemade bread and the memories it evokes.
- Pulling out that winter jacket and finding money in the pocket.
- Clean sheets.
- A surprise phone call from an old friend.
- Snuggling with your puppy.
- That thing you wanted is on sale and reduced even more at checkout.
- Hot chocolate.
- Sitting in front of the fire.
- A handmade quilt.
- Hayrides.
- Farmers' Markets.
That is a great list, Pam, and so poetically written! I'm thankful for CudlDuds. Our long and amazingly warm and beautiful fall is finally coming to an end and we're entering the long season. I'm armed with CudlDuds, polar fleece, and a wood stove. :-)
ReplyDeleteI had to look up Cuddl Duds. They're great! I might have to get some for Nashville daughter. I can't wait to see pix of your winter since that's probably all I'll get again this year.
DeleteEspecially like #11. I'm thankful for finding interesting, funny, insightful and inspiring blog posts. Now not every post and be all that but there is such a wonderful variety out there to be thankful for.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you about the blog posts! I wish I had more time to just sit and read. But that probably wouldn't be good for my weight loss efforts. ha!
DeleteWe really are joined at the proverbial hip my friend!! Your list and mine are 99% the same. No wonder we get along so fabulously.
ReplyDeleteAw! Thanks! I can't think of another single soul I'd rather be joined at the proverbial hip with! Hugs and love! Wait until next week. I'm going to be in a world of trouble over #1.
DeleteHmmm? Waiting patiently here...Lol
DeleteYou picked such great things to list, and I agree with others that most of them are also on my list. I love how you describe them, though...much more eloquently than I could have. Blessed.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Terri! That's so sweet.
DeleteI am thankful for being able to see a doctor when I need to, so many people can't do that, I am thankful for a loving and supportive family as many don't have one, I am also thankful that each day I wake up
ReplyDeleteI think I'd put those on my big list! :)
DeleteWhat an awesome list............
