This is the last Wednesday before school is out! Well, it's the last full day Wednesday. Next week, Wednesday will be a half day! Am I happy? Need you ask?
Here we go with the Hodgepodge!
1. How should success be measured? I really believe that success is best measured by each individual person. I do not believe that success should be measured in terms of money or status or how big your house is or what job you've worked, etc. Using that as your standard, who is the most successful person you know? I have no idea. I believe that you are successful if you have achieved happiness and who knows if someone is truly happy or not? We often put up a facade that leads others to believe we are happy but I find that is rarely the truth. I've known people who have tons of money and a big career only to leave it all behind for a simpler life and find happiness only at that point. Those are the successful people in my mind. Of course, there are those who seem happy with big houses and money and coveted careers too so, who knows. (Or one of the most successful?)
2. Have you ever been to a hot air balloon launch/fest/party? No. Ever taken a ride in a hot air balloon? No. Is that on your bucket list? Hahahahaha! Hell to the N.O. According to Frommers the ten best hot air balloon adventures in the world are-
Loire Valley (France), the Serengeti (Tanzania), Napa Valley (California), Lake Champlain (Vermont), Cappadocia (Turkey), Istria (Croatia), Gstaad (Switzerland), Yarra Valley (Australia), Muelle (Costa Rica), and Albuquerque (New Mexico).
Which one on the list would you most like to experience? Not a single one. I am NOT going up in a hot air balloon.
3. May 25th is National Brown-Bag It Day. Did you/will you pack a lunch today? I did pack a lunch, as I do every school day. But not in a brown bag. When did you last pack a lunch for someone and what are your go-to ingredients for a brown bag lunch? The last time I packed a lunch was eons ago and the lovelies were in school. I packed them lunches nearly every day as they were not fond of school lunches. And, once they hit middle school, they preferred brown bag lunches. I would put a little love note on a napkin too. Did y'all do that? I miss doing that and I love it when they talk about how much it meant to them.
4. What's one of your favorite dance scenes from a movie or television show? Oh shoot...how about this one:
Or, this one (Lord have mercy but I loved this movie):
Or this one:
Oh, but the list could go on and on and on..I didn't cover black and whites nor ballet. Goodness, but I love me some dance!
5. John F. Kennedy made famous the line, '...Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country." So what can you do for your country? Vote against a certain candidate. Ha! Be civil and kind? Be an informed, active citizen? Be eco-friendly?
6. Weekends are made for spending time with this cutie:
7. On this last Wednesday of the month, bid farewell to the month of May in seven words or less.
Don't forget to take school along.
Time to let the monkeys out.
Farewell to you and school.
8. Insert your own random thought here. Daughter 2 is in Rio for the next eight days. I don't mind telling y'all that I am not thrilled about her being there. However, it is a wedding and she will be with the bride's family and it is somewhere outside of Rio so... Having adult kids is great but this jet-setter one makes this mama nervous. Until she gets back. With my Christmas ornament. :) I was up Monday night tracking her flight. Do we ever stop worrying about our kids? Guess not.
Here's a picture:
And here's to the last full week of school! Only one full day and two half days next week!
Congratulations on your almost-out-of-school status!!! BTW, you and I can stay safely on the ground eating our bag lunches while those silly people ascend in the hot air balloons. :-)
Hahaha! I'll just sit on the ground and watch you float up among those lovely stars. :) I'm not doing that height in something that could deflate and send me crashing. LOL
I'm right there with you on the nervous mom thing! The 5 months my youngest was studying abroad in Madrid and Barcelona were the longest of my life. I never slept sound. I knew he was up while I was asleep! Ha. I track every overseas flight my kids take. I mean, can they just stop already?! Not really, but still... Have a great day!
No you're not the only one I feel like I'm always tracking one of my crew's travel. Yay for summer! My teacher daughter has three half days next week then s couple of work days so on the real homestretch now : )
It's not like I can do anything if I see something on the tracker but, and this is silly, I feel that if I am watching, nothing will happen. How silly? One full and two half days next week for us. I know you'll enjoy spending time with her this summer since y'all live so close. :)
Being a transplant to the low-country of SC for 31 years is still not long enough to be called a ‘benyeh.’ If I stay until I’m dead I’ll probably go a ‘comeyeh’ since I am, originally, ‘from off’ (which is the upstate but, rules you know). By day I take care of my sweet little granddaughter, Baby M and do all those things I did when I was a SAHM raising four daughters which has translated to, ‘by day, I am exhausted.’ By night I blog, blog, blog, and blog some more or I sleep, depending on my level of exhaustion (do they still make Geritol?). I have a very unhealthy addiction to sweets (nearly any kind will do) and all comfort foods not covered under the ‘sweets’ category. I’m known for speaking my mind so, if you don’t want to know, don’t ask me. I love to find the humor in my empty nest life. I live life hard and smack into that brick wall almost daily because I’ve always had to learn the hard way. Why change now? I’m so glad you’ve come to laugh with me as I do this middle age, empty nest thing like a BOSS!

ReplyDeleteSounds like a fantastic plan! I'd love it! Especially if you prepare the food. :)
DeleteWould you like to ride in my beautiful balloon? We could float among the stars together.
ReplyDeleteNah, never mine, I'll be going up up and away now.

Right?! I'm exhausted and all I get to do is sit home and worry. LOL Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment! :)
DeleteSo....who's the certain candidate (giggling)...I am glad I found you again...apparently when I changed formats, I lost ALOT of blogs. SIGH.
ReplyDeleteHahahaha! I'll never tell. LOL Oh no! I wondered where you've been! Glad to see you again!
