Bucket Lists are Overrated

Do y'all have a bucket list? I don't. Not really. I'm too afraid that, if I complete all the things on the list, it's time to die. I know, but I'm one of those superstitious types and I simply do not want to chance it. That being said, there are a few things I love to see before I pass from this world to the next. And the Northern Lights are number one on my non-existent bucket list.

My This-is-NOT-a-Bucket-List List:

1. I can't imagine anything more beautiful, more inspirational than the aurora borealis. And this is where I want to go to see them although, I may never come back:

I can just imagine myself in one of those wonderful igloos in total awe of the beauty of the northern lights.

2. Marfa, Texas. I've just got to go see the Marfa Lights. Ghosts. I love stories about ghosts and Marfa, TX has some. I'd stay in one of these:

3. Maine. I want see what inspires the settings in most of Stephen Kings novels. Not that I'd ever want to LIVE one of his novels, but---

4. Learn a foreign language. I think I'm just too lazy for this one, y'all.
5. Rescue every dog from every shelter. I know, but I'd like to do this. Cats, too.
6. End homelessness. I know it's not going to happen but, wouldn't it be great?
7. Send everyone who abuses an animal, a child, an elderly person, or a woman to outer space. For eternity. Not to a nice, exciting world. Just to space.
8. Send big developers who fatten their wallets at the expense of the poor and of wildlife to outer space with the abusers.
9. Live in a place that still has 4 seasons every year. Out in the country. Away from people. Maybe near some water but not a river because rivers flood.
10. Write something substantial.

I realize most of these things are unrealistic but that does not stop me from wanting to do them. When trying to come up with a list of 10, that's where I had to go. It's not like I wouldn't really want to do those things so, they count. Right?

Ok, bucket list or no bucket list for y'all?

  1. I live far from the city lights in Minnesota. The Northern Lights beauty are beyond description. I just don't have the words.
My non-existent bucket list includes the Maine coast, Washington DC, Boston, Philadelphia,Gettysburg, other historical sites, New York City. My list doesn't have anything to do with saving anyone or thing, but I am afraid my list is as unattainable as yours. But, we have to have dreams.

    1. Yes, dreams are important. I know I got carried away but, that's what I do. LOL I've been to DC. LOVED the Lincoln Memorial best of all. I'm so envious that you get to see the northern lights! How often do you see them? Every day? Gosh, how lucky!

  2. I don't really have a bucket list. However, one thing I'd like to do is visit all 50 states. I've probably been to around 20 give or take.

    1. That's a good one! I wouldn't mind visiting a few more, myself. I've been to, or through, 14. Give or take a few.

  3. no bucket list or much of any type of list. I just don't care for making lists and especially despise being handed a list. Well ok there is one list that's useful - the list of people who owe me money.
You did a post on Marfa - right?
We had a rescue dog once and she was a fine pet other than the times she bit a person or two.
Hey thinking of the northern lights and sky stuff - did you know there is a TOTAL eclipse (not partial) coming near you this August? The center line of totality (I might just use that for my next post title) goes over the Wildlife Reserve at Cape Romain.

    1. Hahaha! Do the people around you spend all day laughing at your quips? I did write a post on Marfa. Still haven't been. Probably won't make it. I did know about the total eclipse. We live in Mt. Pleasant and are supposed to get a full 2 minutes of totality. I may not even notice however, since my second grand is due around that time. :)

  4. #7 ... I have seen it in action. I stood up and screamed "NO" boy did that get the attention of the person causing the abuse. Did it stop it, I am not sure. I called the police, I was not given any more information after I gave the report.

    1. Good for you! I saw a young woman being abused in the car before Christmas. I followed them. Like I could do anything. Ha! Anyway, when they pulled into the gas station, I pulled right in too and made mention to the cop who was there. I have no idea what happened after but I was not going to just sit there without doing something.

Thank you so much for taking the time to comment! It makes me feel connected to everyone even though we may live far apart! Have a wonderful day!
