The idea is to fill up one bag each day for 40 days. The size of the bag doesn't matter. What does matter is that you fill one bag every day.
Why 40 days? Lent. I've never given up anything for Lent because we just don't do that. But then I saw this with the thought of giving up clutter instead of sweets and I WAS ON BOARD! Because I am never successful when giving up sweets. We'll soon find out whether I'm good at giving up clutter.
And remembering that decluttering and arranging things neatly are TWO COMPLETELY DIFFERENT AND UNRELATED THINGS. Yes, I speak from experience.
I'm starting in the attic. Sweet Family (Baby M and her parents) have BOUGHT A HOUSE and they are having a yard sale. The timing couldn't be better.
We begin tomorrow and go til April 15. The blogger who sponsors the challenge has a printable plan, helpful tips, daily reminders, and even a FB support group. Gotta love a support group for decluttering! Ha! But seriously, I've looked at her printable plan and helpful tips and they are good. Sometimes I find these things to be ZERO HELPFUL and a total waste of time but this chick's got a handle on decluttering.
Tomorrow, I begin. Wish me luck.
And if I can figure out a way to put my boomeranger in one of those bags well...
Are y'all decluttering or have you done it already?

We're decluttering at my house too. I like the idea of 40 bags in 40 days. Bit I'll be on vacation next werk so I can't do it then but maybe the rest of the time would get me going. I definitely could use the motivation. Good luck as you declutter!
ReplyDeleteIt's definitely a process. The blogger I mentioned also has a FB group and I've found it to be quite helpful and encouraging. Have a fun and restful vacation!
DeleteI have seen this on Facebook. I won't be doing that for lent but I do need to make this year a year of purging!! Good luck to you.
ReplyDeleteThanks! I'll need it. That attic hasn't been purged since we bought the house in 1988. Can you say, overwhelming? LOL
DeleteMy daughter tells me often that i have too much stuff and need to declutter and get rid of stuff, it pisses me off
ReplyDeleteI'm always telling the husband he needs to declutter. He's has my backyard looking like a junk yard. I hate it. I'm at a time I need to simplify. The 'stuff' is driving me nuts and the attic hasn't been cleaned in 28 years. It's time.
