For example, I thought these decoupaged pickle jars at Clearissa Coward's Command Center were adorable!
I still think they're adorable. She gave the instructions and pictures. Here's a close-up of the bunny jar:
Not a tear, puff, or wrinkle on the thing. It's perfect.
Here's a close-up of my rose jar:
That view doesn't look horrible. But look at this one:
Maybe it's because I used an olive jar instead of a pickle jar.
So, I decided to search the internet and see if someone out there in the all-knowing cybersphere could tell me what I was doing wrong.
And tried again. Nope.
Yes, I used the secret trick, plastic wrap.
But that didn't help much at all. And what if the ends don't meet? All you have to do is apply another piece of the napkin with the Mod Podge and BOOM! Boom what? It didn't work. You can so tell where I added another piece.
On a positive note, the process worked beautifully on the coasters!
Maybe it's just the round things I can't handle. Who knows?
Mother's Day will be here soon!
AND there's a 20% off sale!
the coasters are lovely . . .and I had to chuckle at the rest . . .I've been in that same spot - I tried to put words on a round Christmas ornament using vinyl (cut by my silhouette) . . .and the ornaments are still in the attic!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you! Hahaha! It's nice to know I'm not in the boat alone. :)
DeleteGood old Pinterest. I baked a chocolate pound cake with a recipe from Pinterest. Five eggs, two sticks of butter...you get the idea. I expected it to be company ready. It was AWFUL. I had to run out and buy cheesecake at the last minute to have dessert for guests. I will be very careful from now on, to trust anything from Pinterest. Geesh. But actually, I think the wrinkles add to the charm in those jars you did...
ReplyDeleteWhen it comes to recipes like that I turn to my grandmother's or the old church cookbooks. I don't trust these young people when it comes to old recipes. LOL Aw, thank you for saying that. I told myself the wrinkles made them look more vintage. :)
DeleteYou did better than I would have done
ReplyDeleteMaybe but probably I didn't show the worst parts. LOL Welcome home!
DeleteYeah, flat is easier to deal with than round. That's why Columbus had such a hard time getting funding.
ReplyDeleteBahahahahaha! Thanks for the Tuesday morning laugh!
DeleteWell there you go, you didn't use a pickle jar!!! Seriously though, maybe Clearissa can help you :)
ReplyDeleteHahaha! I know, right! I think I just lack skill. :)
DeleteThis is hilarious!! And as Grammy Dee said, I would happy to help you. I am so honored that my post inspired you and I promise you, my first 1 or 5 tries did not come out as I thought they should either. You really made me chuckle. And by the way...I do sell some of the items I make. You can find them here. http://clearissacoward.com/storefront/ Again, thank you for the laugh.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you enjoyed it! I was fussing at you while making them, though. LOL I'll keep trying but I know mine will never make it to my Etsy shop. :) Thank you!
