Speaking of love, I am not loving this hot weather but y'all knew that already. I am, however, enjoying the rain we're getting. There's nothing better than a rainy day. Unless it's a cold rainy day and that tops them all. Anyway...
Here we go, y'all! If you haven't joined in the fun before, why not make today the day? It's fun and you don't have to go out in the heat to participate.
2. Do you collect seashells when you're at the beach? I do not. What do you do with them once you get them home? My favorite thing to do is leave them at the beach. When the beach is 3.1 miles from your back door, you tend to get inundated with shells if you're not careful. Especially if you have 4 daughters. What's your favorite place to comb for seashells? Even if we go out to Capers or other islands accessible only by boat, I leave the shells there. There are creatures who will make homes of those shells. How many of these 'best beaches for hunting seashells' have you visited? Ocracoke and the Bahamas. Which one would you most like to visit? None. I basically live at the beach so, no need. :)
Calvert Cliffs State Park (Maryland), Jeffrey's Bay (South Africa), Sanibel Island (Florida), Shipwreck Beach (Lanai Hawaii), Ocracoke Island (North Carolina), Galveston Island (Texas) and The Bahamas
3. At a snail's pace, shell out money, come out of your shell, go back into your shell, drop a bombshell, happy as a clam, clam up...which 'shell' phrase could most recently be applied to some event or circumstance in your life? Several of them, actually. But I'll go with, at a snail's pace. Explain. That's how we move down here during the oppressive summers.
4. What summer activity do you dislike? Anything that involves going outside. Why? Did I mention we have oppressive heat around here? AC is my BFF in the summertime. I will go take Baby M to outdoor places as long as shade is available and the breeze off the water is still coolish and not just blowing heat all around us. Just last week we took her over to Waterfront Park (the Mount Pleasant one not the downtown one).
5. What's something you see as quickly becoming obsolete? Maps? Landlines? Payphones? CDs? Manners? Boundaries? Does that bother you? Yes. I'm mostly bothered by the lack of manners and boundaries. Seriously, WTH is wrong with people?
6. Insert your own random thought here. We had a family gathering Sunday but, shamefully, I have not taken the pictures off the camera yet. Just call me a summer slacker. Or, one who appreciates the slow, lazy pace of a hot summer. Yeah, that's better. HA! It's less than two weeks before Nashville Daughter comes home! We hope to see DrummerBoy too but the band might be in the studio at that time. They've been writing new songs so it's about time to get them recorded. Plus, the guys have been busy- DrummerBoy and Nashville Daughter bought a new house and three of the members had or are soon having BABIES! Two are already here and there's one due in August. Actually, that one is due the same day our little one is due so we're all excited!
AND---
Our grandbaby boy, Baby R, is due the week after Joyce's grandbaby boy is due. |
For your listening pleasure, here's one of Nashville Daughter's favorite tunes from the second album (isn't the drummer adorable?):
Hope y'all are enjoying your summer!
and feel free to FAVORITE the shop
or buy something! 😉
I've got brand new additions for your viewing and purchasing pleasure! 😀😁😁
I have five friends who have added new grand babies to their families since March. All girls! I'm really excited to be adding a boy to the mix : ) Miss M is such a cutie. Her haircut is darling. Stay cool!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you've embraced the whole baby boy thing. I'm sort of there but I think I'm still in shock that he's a he instead of a she. :) I am excited that Baby M and Baby R will be close in age and, hopefully, good friends. Our nephew and Maggie (our oldest) are only 10 months apart and they are close to this day.
DeleteCool video!! And they have a great sound! It's hard to comprehend the heat you have to put up with. It's 55 degrees right now and until it warms up, I'll be wearing a jacket. Right now I'm under warm covers with a kitty snuggled up to me. Have a wonderful day with Baby M. Lots of baby happenings in your future. :-)
ReplyDeleteDon't they? I was scared to listen at first because, what if I didn't like them and here we are with the drummer part of the family??? But I do like the sound and the whole group. But especially the drummer. :) I would gladly take 55 right now. It is raining and only going to 82 today so, sweater weather! NOT. LOL Sounds like you've got the right idea on how to stay warm. Give those kitties a snuggle from me.
DeleteThe oppressive heat around here has been awful...good reason they refer to it as "HOTlanta". A little grandson on the way...won't that be fun?! So excited for you, Pam!
ReplyDeleteHa! Yep, good reason indeed. I hope we figure out this boy stuff before he gets here. We know girls around here. At least we can count on him being a feminist. LOL Congrats again on the engagement in your family!
DeleteI love the song! I am going to look for it on Spotify. Our heat is a little late this year. I am not complaining though. I do not like heat. I want to be outside, but like you the A/C is my BFF.
ReplyDeleteGreat! They are on Spotify. I have a good many of their songs on a playlist. If you ever get a chance to see them in person, do it. They are crazy talented and so down to earth. I just can't do the heat anymore. Not this hot, anyway. Maybe if it never went higher than the low 80s. Is there even a place like that? Alaska? LOL
DeleteIt is so wonderful that you get to spend so much time with Baby M. Can't wait for baby R to arrive!!
ReplyDeleteIt has been the best of times. I am not sure how it's going to be to add a second one to my daily routine. Can you say, total exhaustion? LOL
DeleteLoved your summer post! I was laughing the whole way through it....and seeing myself. I always have all these good intentions at the start of summer. Ha!
ReplyDeleteWoohoo! All those babies coming...it will be wonderful!
Aw, thank you so much for reading it. I'm glad you got a laugh! Yes, good intentions that almost always go bad, that's me. :) Have a wonderful day!
DeleteHa ha! I totally relate to that oppressive heat. I'm a Texas girl & heat is how we roll around here. That means AC is my BFF too. So jealous that you live so close to the beach though. It's my favorite place to visit.
ReplyDeleteI went to Texas once and I remember how hot it was. We were there in the summertime and that was probably not the best idea. :) It was great living here but now, not so much. We've had a influx that has ruined any fun or quaintness that used to be true of our town so we just don't go to the beach much anymore at all. I wonder if there's a beach town where the weather stays cool and the tourists know nothing of it? Ha!
DeleteYeah, the heat's been awful here, too, and summer's just now 'officially' beginning. Gotta' love the south.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed the song/video at the end of your post, as well as the pic of 'baby mama' :)
Kathy (Reflections)
It's going to be a long, hot one. As usual. Thanks, those boys are so talented!
DeleteOur summer is a long way off but even though it is winter here some days are lovely sitting out in the sun, I have never collected shells but I have never been a big lover of the beach
ReplyDeleteI'm not a lover of hot weather. I need to have year 'round winter. LOL
DeleteIsn't it funny how we never get used to the summer's heat? Everyone complains about it every year but we ought to have come to accept it by now!
ReplyDeleteI was fine with it until about 5 years ago. And it's really the humidity that I can't tolerate. It makes it difficult for me to take a deep breath. I think it's health issues for some of us instead of not knowing the heat is coming. :)
DeleteBABIES!!!! Can't wait for news and pictures!!
ReplyDeleteGood because there sure will be some. LOL Thanks!
