1. Do your actions match your words? Most of the time, they do. Elaborate. Most of the time I do what I say is mirrored by the things I do because I am who I am. There are other times when this does not hold true. Like when I am obligated to do something so I do it but not with a cheerful heart just out of obligation or because I think it's the 'right' thing to do. Then it's me talking one thing but doing another. No, I don't like it.
2. Sick as a dog, go to the dogs, dog days of summer, dog tired, it's a dog's life, every dog has its day, can't teach an old dog new tricks...now doggone it which saying could most recently be applied to your life? Sick as a dog applies to Baby M right now as she has come down with her first daycare illness which means she's spending more time at my house which means a mixed blessing because while I love our time together I hate she's sick. Dog tired could easily apply to me because keeping up with a sick one-year-old is not the easiest thing in the world to do. I spent the last two days holding her during her naps so she could breathe easier and then trying to console her when being sick made her grumpy which was 3/4's of our day both days. But that's ok. She's sick and the queen so... 😀
3. Your favorite book featuring a dog in the storyline? I tend to avoid books and movies about dogs because, let's face it, these media usually take an entire box of tissue to read/watch. However, Baby M and I are loving, DOGGONE DOGS right now. What makes it a favorite? It's an adorable book with a flow and rhyming that makes it fun to read. Also, the author was clever in her writing and the illustrations are bright and funny. Then there's the fact that Baby M loves dogs so much that 'dog' was her first spoken word.
4. What's something you hope to one day have the confidence to do? I'm not sure there's anything I need to develop the confidence to do. Mostly I need to have the time and money to do a few things.
5. August 16th is National Tell a Joke Day. So tell us a joke. Ok, but I only know a dirty joke: A white horse fell into a mud puddle. Ha! How about this one: There's something about subtraction that just doesn't add up. LOL I feel good from my head tomatoes. Haha!
Yes, it's the puns that keep me laughing. I have a friend and a son-in-law who are quite good at these and they keep me rolling all the time.
6. Insert your own random thought here. I think we all need to share lists of our favorite children's books. I have a list of my old favorites but I also love seeing lists from the young moms today. There are so many great books out there for little ones and I know some of us wouldn't mind growing our grandchildren's' libraries. Is anyone interested in doing this? Or am I just way more of a book nerd than I care to admit? Ha!
Also, here's my sick girl:
Look at that little face. She spent most of the last two days on my lap. Poor baby. |
Usually, snoring gets on my last nerve. But when you're one and sick, it doesn't bother me except I don't like she's sick. Even though it's because she's sick, it's still the cutest snoring I've ever heard. She is feeling better today, Ya'll!
Today is Baby R's official due date. If he's late, my daughter is going to explode. Just sayin'.
or buy something! 😁💓
I enjoyed the list of puns :)
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry baby M is sick. (Dang those blasted daycares and their germs!) I'm sure just being on your lap is good medicine :)
I'm afraid I can't help you with your book list. My library is a bit out of date, but I still like all of the old ones--Chicka Chicka Boom Boom is an old favorite, as is If You Give a Mouse a Cookie.

Puns are the best, IMO. I laugh every single time. :) That's what I said (about the daycare). She's feeling much better today. We have both of those books on the shelf. We were just reading them the other day. The old stand-bys are some of my favorites.
DeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteOh my,I can tell your sweetheart is ill from the puffy eyes. Sending a hug and prayer.
My boys loved Chicka Chicka Boom Boom, If You Give a Pig a Pancake and Curious George.
She's been so sick but she is feeling better now. Poor little thing had no idea what was going on. It's the first time she's ever been sick. We have those on our shelf! :)
DeleteP.S I am with you regarding movies and books about dogs. A CASE of Kleenex please. ;-)
ReplyDeleteYes, a case for sure!
DeleteSo sorry to hear that Baby M. is sick. At least it got her out of daycare. (No, still not a good thing at all!) I hope she's feeling better soon. It's so hard to see them not being able to breathe well and sleep well. Like your puns, especially the thesaurus. :-) So today is the due date, huh? I'm sure she already feels like she's going to explode. Hope all goes well there. xo OH, and thank you for the recommendation for the dog book! I love children's books and sometimes miss the old favorites that are no longer shelved in the bookstores. I realize they can't have everything there, but I miss seeing Graham Oakley books and William Steig books on the shelves. But I like the Cows That Type (Doreen Cronin) and Goodnight Loon (have to be from northern Wisconsin or Minnesota to appreciate that one, maybe, but SO CUTE), the Dear Mrs. LaRue books, Blueberries for Sal (and all the other McCloskey books), Virginia Lee Burton books, the Shine-a-Light books, oh, good grief, I can't spend all day doing this, but I'd like to! LOL
ReplyDeleteI know but I'm not the mom. She is feeling much better, though. And I did hold her while she slept so she could breath better. I would have given her another day but her mommy took her back to daycare today. She will get her early if they call and bring her to me. The puns are my favorite! Yep, today is the due date. And we're still waiting. Cows That Type! I forgot about that one!!! Do it! Spend all day and send me the list! My favorite book of all time is The Little House. It's the first book I bought Marcy and I've been reading it to her since she was born. :) Oh! Make Way for Ducklings! And...LOL Thank you for reminding me about some of my favorites!
DeletePoor Baby M! Glad she is feeling better today. I would love a book list. I've already added 2 books to my basket on Amazon to share with Colton.
ReplyDeleteI am, too. Poor thing was just miserable. I'm thinking I'll do a post and everyone will share their favorites. Then, I compile one big list and post that. :) Books are the best!
DeleteAh, poor baby girl!! Those are some LOUD snores for one so little!! Enjoyed your HP, Pam.
ReplyDeleteShe was snoring rather loudly but the poor thing couldn't breathe. She was miserable but she's so much better now! Thank you, Terri! Hope the retirement is going well!
DeleteI like puns too. Have you read I Wish You More? Such a sweet book for the very young. I will think about a list for you. Come on Baby Boy!! Hoping today is the day!
ReplyDeleteThey are so much fun. I wish I was clever like that. My SIL is one of the punniest guys I've ever met. That's one I have not read but I will check it out. Thanks! It looks like today won't be the day. She's not feeling anything. Goodness, this waiting game is not easy.
Deletebless your sweet baby's heart - I hate when they are sick!! Love the puns!!!
ReplyDeleteI do, too. Thank you!
DeleteI liked the puns, just so you know..............
ReplyDeleteAll in all a great post
Puns are great, aren't they? :)
DeleteHi Pam. So sorry that that sweet girl isn't feeling well. Hope she's on her way to recovery. :) I think sharing some favorite children's books is a great idea. I love the Pigeon books by Mo Willems. Have a great week.
ReplyDeleteShe recovered rather quickly so that was good. I felt so bad for her. The Pigeon books are FABULOUS! Thanks!
DeleteWishing baby M a get well quickly.
ReplyDeleteI enjoy puns and those were good.
Thank you! On both counts. :)
DeleteSorry to hear about Baby M being sick. I know that things like this are supposed to build immunities in the body but that is no fun for her or you.
ReplyDeleteShe's better but still has that daycare runny nose.
