And here we are on Wednesday at the Hodgepodge which is my most favorite thing about Wednesday! Won't you join in the fun if you haven't already?
1. Did you watch the solar eclipse? Yes, and my post is HERE. Your thoughts? It. Was. Awesome! Sun Chips, Moon Pies, Starburst candies, a Blue Moon beer, a Sunkist orange, or a Milky Way candy bar...what's your favorite eclipse related snack on this list? Y'all know I'm going to go with the candy bar, right? Ha!
2. What are you 'over the moon' about these days? Baby M, of course! And Baby R if he ever gets here. What's something you enjoy doing every 'once in a blue moon'? Have an alcoholic beverage. I haven't been able to drink as much as a glass of wine since I had children because it did something to my physiology or something. I'm not kidding, after a half glass of wine I'm so tipsy I can hardly see straight. Now I find I can have a drink of anything but just a little bit so I indulge once in a blue moon.
3. Tell us about something in the realm of science that interests you. Just about everything. I'm fascinated by science. I listen to science based podcasts and I love watching COSMOS on Netflix. How do you feed that interest? Watch documentaries and listen to podcasts. My son-in-love is quite sciency so I listen to him and feel his enthusiasm. I find so many things in science stimulating and truly fascinating. And I sound really smart when I talk about it. Hahahaha! I kid, I kid.
4. What are a few things you remember about going back to school as a child? A new outfit for the first day and a book satchel (yes, we called them book satchels, I'm THAT old), the excitement of a new school year, the dread of having to wait on my aunt who was not my biggest fan to pick me up to go to school and never let me ride home regardless of weather. No worries, I loved school anyway!
5. I've seen several versions of this around the net so let's make one of our own...share with us five words that touch your soul and briefly tell us why. 5 individual words? A 5-word phrase? I'm going with individual words:
HOPE: because I never lose it no matter how desperate things may seem (and I hope I never do)
LOVE: because I can't help myself, I'm a believer in true love and I believe you're never too old to experience it.
GRANDCHILDREN: because they touch your heart and soul like none other.
PEACE: because in my mind it is one of the most wonderful feelings in the world.
SILENCE: because this is the space in which I can recharge myself and grow in my spirituality.
KINDNESS: I had to add one more. Kindness because of the comforting, sweet feeling I get inside when I encounter a genuinely kind person.
6. Insert your own random thought here. A little tale about podcasts I mentioned earlier---most of you know Mother is here recuperating from her brief stay in a hospital that tried to kill her (her words) and the days are such that I just have to laugh. Anyway, the other day she asked if turning on the tv would bother me, I told her no I was going to listen to a podcast. She wanted to know what a podcast was and all I could think of was radio. So I told her podcasts are the millennial version of radio shows. Is there a better way to explain podcasts to an 82 year old?
Soooo, someone here already knows this but Lovely1 is going to be induced this morning at 7:30. This post went up at 5:30. Who knows when Baby R will show his sweet face but at least it will be today. He's exactly one week past his due date so they decided to serve him his eviction notice today.
This little babby-doodle is about to have a cousin! Isn't she the cutest?! |
or buy something! 😁💓
Fun solar eclipse post, what a fun day. I found it amazing. We did not have total, but what we did get was so cool!
ReplyDeleteI like how you did your soul words.
Sending hugs and prayers!! A big, big, big day coming your way!
Carla
Thank you! I'm glad you got at least a partial. Such an amazing event! The soul words had me thinking for a minute but once I started I could have gone on a bit more. :) It was nice to bring attention to those kinds of words. She's in the hospital and at 4 cm. Thank you for the hugs and prayers!
DeleteBig day today! Can't wait to hear more and meet baby R. So exciting isn't it.
ReplyDeleteSure is! I forgot how much fun waiting is. Ha!
DeleteOh my goodness, praying that everything goes well with labor and delivery. Believe it or not, I can actually remember as far back as my own kids' appearances. Labor not a fun time, but so worth it when you see that sweet little one and hold them for the first time (outside the womb). Glad the eclipse was a hit. I laughed at 'satchel.' I didn't dare write about the new saddle shoes I got for school. LOL And no kidding, we went clothes shopping ONCE a year and grocery shopping once a week. Now we drive to that town sometimes as often as twice a day. It's ridiculous.
ReplyDeleteI knew I was dating myself when I used satchel but that's what we called them in the pre-historic days. LOL I didn't have to wear saddle shoes, though. Loafers. UGH. Maggie is only at 5 cm now so we've got a wait. I always forget how NOT fun the waiting is. Since Mother is here we are waiting until later to go over to the hospital so I don't leave her alone for too long. She's not worried about it, I am. I know how she might very well decide she can get up and walk without her walker while I'm not here. We are a family of stubborn women. Sheesh.
DeletePraying for Maggie and little Roland! Can't wait to meet him! How Exciting today is for you and your family😍. Keep us posted👍 Debbie Stroman
ReplyDeleteThank you! I will let you know as soon as he arrives!
DeleteSo exciting! I can't wait to see a picture of Baby R and yes Baby M is totally adorable!!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it?! I'll post as soon as he gets here!
DeleteBlue Moon beer - funny I didn't even think of that connection. Of course Corona beer did come to mind.
ReplyDelete"...serve him his eviction notice today." - good one
Haha! I never thought of Corona but that's a good one. He got his notice and he is here! They left the hospital today and have been at our house all afternoon/evening. Such a life this grand-parenting one. :)
DeleteLucky you to see the totality. We hope to in 2024.
ReplyDeleteIt was so awesome!
DeleteI enjoyed reading your HP, Pam, and can't wait to hear about your new grandson!! We picked a few of the same words that feed our souls!
ReplyDeleteHe's so cute! But I know you saw him. Now you need to get back up here and meet him and Marcy!
DeleteI really like the 5 words you chose (plus the 6th that you added). Kindness doesn't seem to be in abundance anymore, so when it happens, it's REALLY special.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the new baby -- who should be born by now (I hope).
I agree. Kindness has become a rarity and that's so sad. It's not that difficult to be kind. :) Thank you!
DeleteCongratulations again on Baby R! Your granddaughter suddenly is looking more toddler, less baby so I'm sure you'll enjoy having a baby to snuggle again. I loved the eclipse, I loved the whole experience and especially how for about 2 minutes we all were on the same page : )
ReplyDeleteThank you! I can't believe how big Marcy looks now. She really is looking like a full-out toddler. I loved it, too. We were a little shocked by the emotion but we enjoyed it tremendously.
DeleteThat is interesting that you have never been able to drink much at all. Glad you can enjoy a little bit now. I love your 5 words. Yes Baby M is the cutest!
ReplyDeleteIt's really just been since I've had children. And it's the same thing with theme park rides-after I had kids, I wasn't able to ride anything that spins around. Not even the little merry-go-round thingy at the park. It's the weirdest thing ever.
