The morning was great! We got up and played and then had breakfast with Great-Mimi. Then we played a whole lot more and had some lunch followed by Baby M napping.
Sounds uneventful enough, right? Just wait for it...
I figured I was doing good by getting my teeth brushed and clothes on this morning so taking a shower could wait until Baby M napped. Wrong.
Baby R's mommy was not comfortable showering without anyone there watching the baby (his daddy was at work) so she came over here to shower. And there went my shower. Ok, at least I did get the fish chowder made for dinner.
But then, Baby M's nap was over and she had some kind of rough afternoon. The kind where something was bothering her but you don't know what because she's 13 months old and can't tell you so you start going through all the possibilities. Well, turns out she was having tummy problems (which she's had since birth, well almost that long) and developed a horrid diaper rash in a matter of an hour. I gave her the tummy medicine and put Twigs and Roots Baby Balm on the rash. The tummy wasn't feeling better. I held that sweet child from 3:30 until she turned the corner around 8:00. No biggie except that Tucker wanted out and I couldn't get up to let him out right then so he went into Mother's room and then the nursery to have some doggy diarrhea. Which I couldn't clean up right away because I couldn't put Baby M down without her crying and screaming and no one wants that so... My sweet girl went down for the count and I was finally able to feed Mother her dinner which boiled over and left a mess so there was that to clean up.
Finally, at 9:00 I was able to call all things done and cleaned up and sit down to write this post all about our first day.
I'm just going to say that it is a very good thing that people my age don't have children because if it was possible I would have only had one and would have seriously considered giving that one back. Middle age
Ok, but when Y'all see these pictures of Baby M meeting her cousin for the first time you'll see why it's all so worth it. I can clean up next weekend. When I wake up from the very large nap I plan on taking.
I'm pretty sure Baby R passed inspection.
And Baby M did inspect him thoroughly--even his toes.
And for those of you who haven't seen the video:
Only 6 more days, Y'all.
or buy something! 😁💓
You'll make it...one day at a time, one day at a time! Love the pics of your precious grandbabies! Thank you Pam for linking up at the #BloggingGrandmothersLinkParty. I shared your post on Facebook, Google+, Pinterest, and Twitter.
ReplyDeleteI sure hope so! :) Thank you for commenting, sharing, and hosting! Not to mention all the other wonderful, helpful, encouraging things you do for us grandmothers!
DeleteLots going wrong that day. Even the dog got into the act. You're right that type of stress is better handled by younger parents. wish you and the family the best. Oh those cousins pics are beautiful. We have one of a grandson checking out to see if his little matchbox car rolled ok over her. Curiosity!
ReplyDeleteWe just couldn't help but laugh. I mean, what else can one do? Luckily, things have settled down and we're in a comfortable routine. :) Hahaha! That sounds like a priceless picture!
DeleteI get to the place I don't even think about how much longer or anything else. Just what is in front of me at the time. Everyone is just beautiful I am so happy for you.Well not all of the mess. I hope everyone is all better soon.
ReplyDeleteYou do have your hands full. :)
That's a good way to be- in the moment. I try to do that but am rarely successful. We've enter a really nice, comfortable routine now and it's nice. The mess is crazy but I'll clean up when she's back home with her parents. Fingers crossed that her teething has stopped for now. Poor baby has had a time! I'm glad they don't remember teething.
DeleteI know it is hard looking after little ones but boy are they cute! Thanks for sharing your experiences with us Pam at #overthemoon link party. I know my grandson had colic very badly and that wasn't a pleasant time for anyone.
ReplyDeleteAren't they? Just adorable! My nephew had colic when he was little and we all remember it. And he's 31 now. Colic is so painful for them. Thank you!
DeleteThanks Pam for linking up at #BloggingGrandmothersLinkParty. I'm sure we can all understand how you feel. Poor little one - teething is no fun.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Sue for co-hosting! Teething really isn't fun at all. I'm so glad they don't remember it.
DeleteOh my! God bless you....((Hugs))
ReplyDeleteWe hung in there and survived! Hope your family in Florida stayed safe!
DeleteOh my goodness, Pam!! What a day(s). Bless you.
ReplyDeleteWe did great or at least I say that now that it's all said and done. LOL Poor thing was miserable with her teeth but once that stopped she felt so much better. Glad Y'all are safe from the storm.
DeleteThe cute babies make it all worth the hard work!
ReplyDeleteDon't they?! Thank you!
DeleteGod bless you Pam, you'll make it! We grandma's are tough when we need to be. I have my 7, 5, 3 and 1 year old coming over Thursday morning and staying until Saturday evening. Shall we pray for one another? They're so worth it though, aren't they!!
ReplyDeleteOh goodness! I barely survived with one I can't imagine FOUR! LOL They sure are worth it! I have never been so tired and had so much fun as I did during those 9 days. Good luck to you, friend!
