Last weekend, NashvilleDaughter went to one of her BFF's bachelorette party in Chicago. Yep, these gals got on planes and flew into Chicago just to have a fun-filled weekend celebrating their friend's last hurrah, so to speak. Wait. Weekend? Didn't these things use to happen in one night?
There was even an itinerary, Y'all.
How many of you have attended bachelorette weekends with workout classes and baseball games?
Even better, the bride-to-be sang the National Anthem at the Cubs game! WHAT?! Yep.
Why yes, she is the lead singer for a band. They are White Ford Bronco based in DC and if you live nearby, they do all sorts of special events including---WEDDINGS!
And then there was beach time. Wait. There's a beach in Chicago? Apparently.
With friends like these, who wouldn't feel loved and totally supported?
ANYWAY--- If I were ever to marry again, my friends better step. it. up. Just sayin'.
Soooo, tell me. Was your bachelorette anything like this one?
Wow a weekend? Nope, I don't think people do that around here. It sounds like a nice idea though. I like that she sang the National Anthem at the Cubs game. How fun. Gosh, I don't think I had a bachelorette party. I think I would remember that if I did. Have a great Friday.
ReplyDeleteI thought it was a great idea, too. A whole weekend with close friends and doing different sorts of things just appeals to me. I think we blogging friends should do that. :)
DeleteWow! She has a really nice voice. Somehow I didn't even have a bachelorette party. I had 2-3 showers, but that was it.
ReplyDeleteDoesn't she? She's a super sweet gal, too.
DeleteNope, didn't have a bachelorette party either time. Sounds fun, but in the grand scheme of things, I'd rather spend it on a swankier honeymoon. Still, looks fun.
ReplyDeleteThey had such a blast and I'm sure their honeymoon will be something like Europe another place I've never been. Ha!
DeleteBack in the day (1960s-70s) we hadn't even heard of bachelorette parties for goodness sake, and for my second wedding we didn't even have a honeymoon. The money that gets spent on weddings today blows my mind. Why? You could furnish an entire home with the money spent on just a "normal" wedding today. Not necessary in my humble (and cheap) opinion! Each to his/her own, and I have attended some beautiful weddings and receptions. Fine and dandy if you can afford it. Foolish, but whatever. I'm not a romantic, I guess.
ReplyDeleteI don't remember bachelorette parties either but I do recall 'stag' parties, or hearing about them. I guess the women got tired of the men having all the last hurrah fun. Hahaha! Oh girl, I know! I always say weddings and funerals are rackets. I think you can have sweet and simple and I'd find that way more romantic than flashy but they all seem to want flashy so they support an empire.
DeleteI agree pretty close to Terri D's comment above. Culture does change. People are mostly older (making more money?) than when I first got married.
ReplyDeletewow sang the National Anthem at the Cubs game - now that is very special. Chicago has fine beaches but I would rather travel over to the Michigan side since it is not as crowded.
I could have sworn Chicago was landlocked but geography has never been my strong suit. LOL I think you're right about people marrying older and having more money because of it but I still think the whole thing is a racket. I was totally impressed with her singing the National Anthem at the game. Some people have all the luck. Ha!
DeleteI got married in the dark ages. There were no such things as bachelorette parties, to my knowledge!
ReplyDeleteI didn't remember them from my dark ages either. LOL
